Ted Lasso Season 4 episode 6 sends Richmond into New Year’s Eve as Ted faces his past, Alice tries to reconnect with the team, and Roy’s love life gets even messier.
Ted Lasso Season 4 episode 6, titled “Don’t Jump Around Much Anymore,” takes a break from football as everyone prepares to welcome a new year. Instead of one big Richmond celebration, the episode splits the characters between the Crown & Anchor pub, an extravagant boat party, and Jamie Tartt’s (yes, he’s back) surprise vodka launch.
Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) chooses the quietest option and stays with his family, but that does not mean he gets an easy night. Old feelings, unresolved relationships, and one badly timed dance move make New Year’s Eve much more eventful than anyone expects.

Ted Chooses Family Over The Party
New Year’s Eve begins at the Crown & Anchor, where Henry Lasso (Grant Feely) has started working for Mae (Annette Badland). While Henry learns the ropes around the pub, Ted spends the evening with his ex-wife, Michelle (Andrea Anders).
Michelle wonders why Ted is skipping the much flashier celebration being attended by the Lady Greyhounds. Ted insists that he would rather spend the night with his family, but it becomes clear that something else is weighing on him.
Across town, the women’s team heads to a boat party hosted by Zelda Southport (Tracey Ullman). The gathering is supposed to introduce Richmond to wealthy people who could potentially invest in the club. One person is noticeably missing: Alice Chilton (Tanya Reynolds).
Alice Struggles To Face The Lady Greyhounds
Alice remains suspended after Ted benched her for one match following her behavior towards the team in the previous episode.
At home, she worries about everything from her outfit to whether the players even want her around. As Olivia Dean‘s “Baby Steps” plays in the background, her girlfriend encourages her to attend without using their relationship as somewhere to hide.
Alice eventually gathers enough courage to show up. Unfortunately, Zelda does little to calm her nerves. While introducing Richmond’s coaching staff, she remembers Ted and Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) but forgets Alice entirely. Gemma (Abbie Hern) notices Alice retreating and follows her outside.
Their conversation finally gives Alice the chance to admit that she regrets how she treated Gemma when they played together. She also worries that she may still be hurting players in similar ways now.
Gemma reassures her that the Lady Greyhounds do not hate her. They simply struggle to understand someone who rarely lets them see what she is feeling. For once, Alice appears willing to believe her.
Jamie Tartt Makes His Richmond Return
Keeley Jones (Juno Temple) and Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) spend the beginning of their evening at another party before they are supposed to join the team. Then Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) arrives alone.
His appearance briefly gives Keeley hope that things may not be serious with the woman he has been dating. Rebecca has problems of her own, as Matthijs (Matteo van der Grijn) has stopped sharing his phone location following their recent argument. The party turns out to be the launch of a vodka brand created by Jamie Tartt (Phil Dunster).
Jamie makes his first Season 4 appearance with all the confidence expected of him. He is now playing for FC Barcelona in Spain, but his reunion with Richmond makes it obvious that he still misses the people he left behind.
Roy is especially delighted to see his former player, even if much of that delight comes from watching Jamie’s over-the-top product launch. The old chemistry between them returns almost immediately.
Roy And Jamie Jump A Little Too Much
At Jamie’s launch, Roy prepares to leave for plans with his new girlfriend. Then House of Pain’s “Jump Around” begins playing. Roy and Jamie lock eyes and immediately hit the dance floor, bringing back the wonderfully chaotic friendship they developed before Jamie left Richmond.
Unfortunately, all the jumping causes another injury to Roy’s knee, and Jamie ends up carrying Roy out of the party. Keeley and Rebecca follow them to the hospital.
There, Keeley finally meets Dr. Erin Beaumont (Laura Haddock), the woman Roy has been seeing. Meeting Erin makes everything more real. Keeley sees that she is attractive, intelligent, and genuinely seems to care about Roy, which makes Keeley’s own unresolved feelings even harder to ignore.
Ted And Michelle Finally Talk About Their Divorce
Back at the Crown & Anchor, Michelle gets Ted to admit that he has been feeling lost. Suspending Alice continues to bother him. Ted knows that setting boundaries was necessary, but he still questions whether he handled the situation correctly and whether he is the right person to guide this particular team.
Michelle encourages him to trust himself and remain honest with the people around him. Their conversation eventually moves away from football and toward something they have avoided discussing so openly: their divorce.
Michelle explains that the end of their marriage left her lonelier than Ted realized. Her later relationship with their former therapist partly came from the comfort of being with someone who already understood her history.
Ted listens without trying to rewrite what happened between them. Michelle then turns the question back toward him and discovers that his own dating life has barely moved at all. Ted mentions the stage manager he met during Jane’s play, although he never even learned her name. Michelle encourages him to find her and take the chance.
Their conversation does not point toward Ted and Michelle getting back together. Instead, it gives them something healthier: the freedom to care about each other without needing to restore their marriage.
Zelda’s Boat Party Gets Stranger
The Lady Greyhounds, meanwhile, discover that Zelda’s party is not exactly a normal networking event.
Leslie Higgins (Jeremy Swift) attends with his wife, Julie Higgins (Mary Roscoe), while Zelda introduces them to her eccentric friend Hugo Riddles (Alex Blake). Hugo immediately makes Leslie uncomfortable by openly flirting with Julie.
The players encounter increasingly strange guests, while Lizzie (Faye Marsay) takes advantage of the expensive food. Beard also misreads the friendliness of a much younger woman at the party and discovers that she sees him as far too old for her.
Eventually, guests are handed masks as the celebration heads in an even stranger direction. That is enough for most of the Lady Greyhounds. They decide it is time to leave.
Roy’s Confession Creates A Huge Misunderstanding
Roy is heavily medicated while recovering from his injury, which turns an already uncomfortable situation into something much worse.
Pretending to have left Roy’s room, Keeley stays behind the door and overhears him expressing to Erin his love but leaves before realizing exactly who he means. A drowsy Roy is actually thinking about Keeley. When he later mistakes Erin for her and says Keeley’s name, Erin realizes that Roy’s feelings for his ex never disappeared.
Nobody leaves the situation with the full picture. Keeley thinks Roy has chosen Erin. Erin now knows Roy remains emotionally attached to Keeley. Roy, meanwhile, is barely aware that he has just complicated both relationships from a hospital bed. Keeley ultimately heads home alone in tears.
Rebecca Gets Her New Year’s Surprise
Rebecca remains at the hospital worrying about Matthijs. With no reply to her messages and his location sharing disabled, she begins believing their relationship may genuinely be over.
Jamie unexpectedly becomes the person who comforts her. His advice shows how much he has matured since the arrogant footballer viewers first met.
As midnight approaches, the moment briefly looks as though it could turn romantic between Jamie and Rebecca. Then Matthijs appears. He had turned off his location because he wanted to surprise Rebecca in person. Their separation ends as they reunite and kiss at midnight.
Alice’s Progress Takes Another Step Back
The Lady Greyhounds eventually make their way back to the Crown & Anchor. They remain banned from entering after the previous episode’s pub fight, but even the men involved in that clash now praise Richmond for its performance against Chelsea.
The team simply moves the celebration outside. Ted sees his players from upstairs, and Michelle encourages him to join them for the countdown.
Outside, Ted speaks warmly with Alice and tells her, “see you at work.” Then Lizzie tells Alice that the entire team loves her.
Instead of taking the reassurance positively, Alice immediately realizes Gemma must have told the others about their private conversation. She confronts Gemma and sees the gesture as another betrayal of trust. Alice had spent the evening taking small steps toward opening herself up. By midnight, some of those walls are already going back up.
Michelle Gives Ted Something To Believe In Again
Ted rings in the new year surrounded by the Lady Greyhounds. It is a simple moment, but an important one. He spent much of the evening wondering whether he was doing enough for the team, only to end it exactly where he belongs: among his players.
When Ted returns upstairs, Michelle has one final surprise waiting. Using materials from Henry’s schoolwork, she creates a new version of the familiar “Believe” sign.
The message carries extra meaning this time. Ted has spent years encouraging other people to believe in themselves, but his ex-wife recognizes that he sometimes needs the same reminder.
The New Year Opens The Door To A Fresh Start
“Don’t Jump Around Much Anymore” barely touches the football pitch, but it moves several of Season 4’s biggest relationships forward.
Ted and Michelle finally discuss their marriage without either of them needing to undo the divorce. Rebecca and Matthijs find their way back to each other, while Jamie’s return reminds Richmond just how much its former players remain part of this family.
Roy and Keeley are much further from clarity. One drugged confession has left Keeley and Erin with completely different understandings of what Roy wants, setting up an awkward situation that cannot stay unresolved forever.
Alice may have the most important road ahead. Her suspension is almost over, and her conversation with Gemma shows that she genuinely wants to become closer to the Lady Greyhounds. Yet her reaction at midnight proves that trusting people remains much harder for her than coaching them.
The remaining four episodes of the season can now explore whether Alice returns to Richmond ready to change or retreats behind her old defenses again.
Viewers can also look forward to Ted possibly taking Michelle’s dating advice, Roy facing the fallout from his hospital confession, and the Lady Greyhounds finally returning to football after a very eventful New Year’s Eve. For Ted, the new “Believe” sign feels like the right way to begin another year. This time, the person who may need its message most is Ted himself.
