Ted Lasso Season 4 episode 10 closes the season with Mae’s final impact on Richmond as Ted, Alice, Roy, and Rebecca make decisions that change what comes next.
Ted Lasso Season 4 episode 10, titled “Being Alive,” brings the Lady Greyhounds’ first season to a close while AFC Richmond faces an even bigger battle away from the pitch. Apple TV lists the 55-minute episode as the Season 4 finale, released on October 7.

Mae Green’s (Annette Badland) death still hangs over everyone, but the finale is less about staying in grief and more about deciding what to do with the time that remains. Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis), Alice Chilton (Tanya Reynolds), Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein), and Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) all reach major turning points.

Richmond Says Goodbye To Mae in Ted Lasso Episode 1o
The finale begins at a closed Crown & Anchor, where Richmond gathers to remember Mae.

Ted, his son Henry (Grant Feely), his ex-wife Michelle (Andrea Anders), Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt), Rebecca, Leslie Higgins (Jeremy Swift), and the Lady Greyhounds attend the memorial. Alice also brings a framed photo of Mae with the women’s team for the pub.
Keeley Jones (Juno Temple) and Roy leave early because her pregnancy is already bringing morning sickness. Then Roy receives another life-changing surprise when Chelsea offers him its head coaching job. Back at the pub, a farewell song makes Mae’s absence especially difficult for Henry.

He tells Ted that he misses Mae and then asks how Ted’s father died. Ted repeats the false story Henry heard from his grandmother, saying his father died after falling down some stairs. (Earlier in Season 2 episode 8, Ted said that his father died by suicide.) Ted immediately knows he has avoided a conversation his son deserves.
Roy Faces Two Very Different Futures
Chelsea’s offer gives Roy another reason to panic. His career is suddenly offering him a chance to return to a club that meant a great deal to him, while his personal life is about to change through fatherhood.
Later, Roy gathers Ted, Beard, Higgins, Alice, and a familiar face from previous seasons: Nate Shelley (Nick Mohammed), who makes a guest return, for some much-needed advice.

Nate is now coaching Poland’s national team and has started a family of his own. Roy admits that being a good uncle to Phoebe is not enough to convince him that he will know how to raise a child.
Everyone gives Roy a different perspective, but the message is similar. Good parenting does not require having everything figured out before the baby arrives. Despite not being a parent herself, Alice gives him perhaps the most personal advice. Feeling inadequate cannot become an excuse to disappear.

Considering how much Alice has struggled with her own instinct to withdraw when she feels vulnerable, she knows exactly what that warning means.
Keeley Finally Fills Nelson Road in Ted Lasso Episode 1o
Meanwhile, the Lady Greyhounds prepare for their final match of the season. Keeley gets another chance to accomplish something she could not quite pull off earlier: fill Nelson Road for Richmond’s women.

She creates a promotional video built around Rebecca’s memorable outburst from the Chelsea match. This time, the campaign works. Nelson Road sells out.
Familiar Richmond faces can be seen filling the stands, including Michelle, Henry, and Roy’s niece Phoebe (Elodie Blomfield); longtime Crown & Anchor regulars Baz (Adam Colborne), Jeremy (Bronson Webb), and Paul (Kevin Garry); and former AFC Richmond men’s team players Dani Rojas (Cristo Fernández), Isaac McAdoo (Kola Bokkini), Colin Hughes (Billy Harris), and Sam Obisanya (Toheeb Jimoh), who now plays for Manchester United.

Shannon Stone (Shannon Hayes) also earns her first start for the club she grew up supporting. Being a starting player usually means more time on the pitch. For a team that began the season struggling to attract attention, a packed Nelson Road feels like a victory before the match even begins.
Ted reminds the players how much coaching them has meant to him. Mae cannot be there physically, but her belief in the team remains part of the occasion. Interestingly, the finale never reveals the final score. The crowd matters more than the result.
Zelda Makes Her Move For AFC Richmond
After the Lady Greyhounds play, Rebecca heads into the shareholder meeting she has been dreading. Zelda Southport (Tracey Ullman) finally reveals the truth.

She has been buying AFC Richmond shares through different companies, with her flunky Hugo Riddles (Alex Blake) working on her behalf. After the Milk sisters apparently sell their stake, Zelda believes she finally controls the club.
Her real target was never simply the Lady Greyhounds. Zelda wants ownership of a men’s Premier League club because she believes it will give her access to the powerful men who control the sport. Rebecca appears defeated. Then the plan begins falling apart.
Hugo Turns Against Zelda
Rebecca and Higgins were not as clueless as Zelda believed. They eventually discovered what she was doing, and Hugo decided to stop working against them.
Instead of delivering the Milk sisters’ shares to Zelda, he arranged for Rebecca to receive them. That leaves both women holding 49% of AFC Richmond. Two percent remains to take full control. And those shares belonged to Mae.
Mae Saves Richmond One Last Time
Mae’s will is executed and delivers final surprises. Mae leaves the Crown & Anchor to its longtime regulars Baz, Jeremy, and Paul. After years of sitting at the same table, the three friends now have the responsibility of protecting the place that became their second home. More importantly, Mae leaves her two-percent Richmond stake to Rebecca. That pushes Rebecca to 51% ownership and destroys Zelda’s takeover attempt.

Even after her death, Mae protects the club she spent years supporting. Rebecca could respond by pushing Zelda away completely. Instead, she chooses not to let betrayal change the kind of person she wants to be. Richmond remains hers.
Ted Finally Tells Henry The Truth in Ted Lasso Episode 1o
Ted still has unfinished business of his own. He apologizes to Henry for missing some of his matches and promises to organize his schedule differently next season.
Then he returns to the question he avoided at Mae’s memorial. Ted tells Henry the truth about his grandfather’s suicide. We do not hear the conversation, but that silence gives the moment extra weight. Ted finally trusts Henry with something painful rather than hiding behind a safer story. For Ted, being a present father now means more than simply living in the same city as his son.
Roy Says Yes To Chelsea
Roy tells Rebecca that he will become Chelsea’s new head coach. The opportunity scares him, which may be exactly why he needs to accept it. Rebecca initially struggles with losing him and throws a hilarious tantrum. Roy has grown from former player to assistant coach and eventually Richmond manager under her watch.

But she comes to understand his choice. Roy is finally allowing himself to take a risk without assuming failure will eventually punish him for trying. Rebecca sends him toward Chelsea knowing Richmond will still be there if he ever needs to come home.
Rebecca Takes Her Own Big Risk
Roy’s decision leaves Rebecca thinking about Mae. Mae spent her final day doing something she loved. Rebecca realizes that living fully also means accepting uncertainty rather than constantly preparing for everything that could go wrong.
Then Matthijs (Matteo van der Grijn) arrives with flowers. Rebecca does not waste the opportunity. She asks him to marry her. (Yes, the other way around)

Matthijs accepts, bringing Rebecca’s season-long struggle with vulnerability to a fitting conclusion. Her first marriage taught her how badly love could hurt, but she no longer wants that experience controlling what she does with a healthier relationship.
Alice Finally Gets The Team
The closing montage reveals one more major change at Richmond. Roy packs his office and prepares for Chelsea. Ted leaves him a small reminder that he believes Roy will become a good father. Then Ted gives Alice something far more important. The head coaching job.
Alice becomes manager of AFC Richmond’s women’s team, while Ted moves into an assistant role beneath her alongside Beard.

It completes one of Season 4’s biggest character journeys. Newcomer Alice began the season angry that Rebecca overlooked her for the job. She then struggled with jealousy, anger, anxiety, and the fear that becoming emotionally close to her players would weaken her authority.
Instead, those experiences made her a better coach. Ted does not hand Alice the team because he has failed. He steps aside because she is ready.
Richmond Chooses Change Instead Of Goodbye
“Being Alive” ends Season 4 by changing almost everything without making those changes feel like endings. Roy leaves for Chelsea, Rebecca gets engaged, Mae passes the pub to the people who loved it, and Alice finally becomes the Lady Greyhounds’ head coach. Ted also remains beside her, suggesting his purpose at Richmond no longer depends on being the person in charge.

Mae’s final actions hold everything together. She saves Rebecca’s ownership of AFC Richmond and ensures that the Crown & Anchor continues after her passing. The finale therefore leaves Richmond looking very different from where the season began, but its community remains intact.
If the story continues (who knows?), Alice now has the chance to prove what Richmond’s women can become under her leadership, while Ted must figure out what his new supporting role means for both coaching and fatherhood. Roy will face his own test at Chelsea, and Rebecca enters another season with both Richmond and Matthijs firmly in her future.
Season 4 started by asking whether Ted could come home again. It ends by showing that sometimes home stays the same precisely because everyone inside it keeps changing.
