Su-jeong Faces Another Setback in Doctor X: Mafia in White Episode 4

Episode 4 of Doctor X: Mafia in White opens with a flashback to the fire at White Wings Medical Corps. Su-jeong rescues a young boy’s brother from the burning building and desperately tries to revive him. However, she breaks down when she realizes that the boy has died.

In the present, Director Bu Seung-gwon informs Su-jeong and her agent, Hee-sook, that GUMC has suspended her contract following Dr. Na Dae-il’s arrival. Hee-sook threatens legal action if the hospital refuses to pay Su-jeong what it owes her.

Na Dae-il

Later, Hee-sook takes Su-jeong out for a meal and questions why GUMC hired Dae-il. Su-jeong acknowledges his experience and skills after years of military service. Nevertheless, Hee-sook remains furious that the hospital has treated Su-jeong unfairly despite her efforts to prevent a major scandal.

Before dropping Su-jeong off at GUMC, Hee-sook encourages her to hold her head high, even if the hospital assigns her to the emergency room. Meanwhile, Dr. Do Yoon-sik, Dr. Bae Hong-gon, and Dr. Ma Sung-gyu show Dae-il around the hospital. When he tries to introduce himself to Su-jeong, the doctors discourage him and warn him that she rarely entertains small talk.

Doctor X Continues to Impress

Later that morning, Dae-il visits his former teacher, Dr. Mun Yeong-jong. Back at GUMC, the doctors find Tae-kyeong asleep at his desk. He insists that he feels fine but admits that assisting with a difficult operation has left him shaken.

Meanwhile, a major accident sends five injured patients to the emergency room after a tree falls on them. Su-jeong treats the victims one by one, impressing Dr. Kim Seong-jin with her efficiency.

During another operation, Su-jeong reviews a patient’s MRI and decides to intervene. She removes part of the patient’s liver and asks Dae-il to suture the organ. Together, they successfully save the patient.

Elsewhere, Chairman Dr. Gu meets with Director Bu and Dr. Do to discuss the press conference about EMT Seo Jin-hyeong’s death. Director Bu defends his handling of the situation, but the chairman threatens to withdraw GUMC’s funding. He also reminds them that he sent Dae-il to the hospital when it struggled with staff shortages.

Dae-il later talks to Tae-kyeong about Su-jeong’s surgical abilities. He calls her “Snake Su-jeong,” irritating Tae-kyeong, but admits that he finds her intriguing. He even asks Tae-kyeong to help him pursue her.

At the emergency room, Seong-jin also suspects that Dae-il has feelings for Su-jeong. Dae-il brings her coffee and desserts to start a conversation, but she refuses to entertain his advances. After Su-jeong finishes her shift, Dae-il follows her to the recovery room. He finds her observing the first patient whose operation officially bears her name.

Meanwhile, Hee-sook discusses Dae-il with her friends, Yang Woong-gu and Yoo Mi-kyung. She finds his sudden interest in Su-jeong suspicious and wonders what he really wants.

A New Patient Raises Concerns in Doctor X: Mafia in White Episode 4

Tae-kyeong continues working late and suffers another nosebleed. He remembers Sung-gyu’s advice to finish his internship before pursuing another department. Sung-gyu has warned him that a surgical career may not offer the rewards he expects.

The next morning, Dae-il tries to speak with Su-jeong in an elevator, but she shuts the doors before he can continue. When the senior doctors join her on another floor, Su-jeong mocks their earlier suspicions about her surgical abilities. She points out that the patient’s aneurysm never ruptured as they had expected.

Later, Seong-jin convinces Su-jeong, Dr. Jo Won-jin, and Tae-kyeong to have a meal together. Before they enter the restaurant, Su-jeong spots a man named Kwon Chung-hyeon collapsing outside. She immediately brings him to the emergency room.

Meanwhile, the surgeons gather for a meal at GUMC and discuss Dr. Do’s collaboration with a pharmaceutical company owner. They also discuss Dr. Mun’s drinking problem. When Dr. Mun passes their table, Director Bu confronts him about his apparent intoxication at work. Dr. Do intervenes to prevent the argument from escalating.

Back in the emergency room, Seong-jin recommends surgery for Chung-hyeon’s condition. However, Chung-hyeon tries to avoid the procedure. Dr. Do, who knows him personally, arrives and insists on operating himself.

Dae-il also visits Chung-hyeon, who reveals that he had intended to ask him to perform the surgery. Chung-hyeon then recalls being bullied during his military service and explains how Dae-il once saved his life.

Chung-hyeon’s Condition Takes a Turn

The following day, Dr. Do, Dr. Bae, Sung-gyu, and Tae-kyeong praise Dae-il for his military service and criticize Su-jeong for disrespecting him. They also discuss Chung-hyeon’s decision to postpone his operation for a week.

Su-jeong reviews Chung-hyeon’s MRI and questions whether he can survive that long without treatment. When Dae-il follows her and invites her to dinner, she refuses and urges him to examine Chung-hyeon for a possible tumor. Dae-il praises her confidence and surgical skills, but Su-jeong walks away without responding.

Meanwhile, Tae-kyeong suffers another nosebleed as he watches their interaction. As the week passes, Chung-hyeon’s condition deteriorates. One day, he collapses behind the wheel while picking up the son of plastic surgeon Dr. Jo Guk-jin from a coaching session. The boy calls his father, who arranges an ambulance but leaves Chung-hyeon in the car.

Su-jeong

Soon afterward, several emergency patients arrive at GUMC, including Chung-hyeon. With the hospital short-staffed, Seong-jin contacts Dae-il and asks him to perform the operation. Dae-il claims that he is busy and asks whether another surgeon can take over.

Seong-jin insists that Su-jeong is the only doctor available with the necessary skills. However, the hospital has revoked her operating room access.

A Shocking Discovery in the Operating Room

Determined to save Chung-hyeon, Su-jeong asks Tae-kyeong to help her enter the operating room. She then recruits Tae-kyeong and Won-jin to assist with the procedure. Meanwhile, Seong-jin sends Dae-il a message informing him that Su-jeong has started the operation. Dae-il panics and immediately abandons his dinner with Chairman Dr. Gu to rush back to GUMC.

However, he cannot find Su-jeong when he arrives. Inside the operating room, Su-jeong opens Chung-hyeon’s abdomen and discovers something unexpected. The letters “DN” appear inscribed on his liver. The episode ends on this disturbing discovery, raising new questions about Chung-hyeon’s past and the mystery surrounding his condition.
