Su-jeong Uncovers the Truth About Dae-il in Doctor X: Mafia in White Episode 5

Episode 5 of Doctor X: Mafia in White begins with Su-jeong asking Tae-kyeong to photograph the initials engraved on Chung-hyeon’s liver. After the operation, Won-jin asks them to speak with the patient’s family. However, Su-jeong tries to avoid the conversation.

Chung-hyeon’s wife and daughter thank the doctors for saving his life. The little girl’s words touch Su-jeong. Meanwhile, Tae-kyeong tells Won-jin that Chung-hyeon has not undergone another operation since Dae-il treated him. He also tries to understand the meaning behind the inscription.

Su-jeong

Tae-kyeong urges Su-jeong to report the incident to the hospital. However, Won-jin argues that revealing the truth could make Chung-hyeon’s remaining years miserable. She believes he remains happy because he does not know what happened. Once he learns the truth, they cannot take it back.

Su-jeong disagrees. Although she owes GUMC nothing, she refuses to hide information that concerns a patient’s own body.

The Doctors Reveal Dae-il’s Wrongdoing

Su-jeong later returns home for a “company dinner” with Hee-sook and her friends. Meanwhile, Dae-il visits the emergency room and asks Seong-jin about Chung-hyeon’s surgery. He feels surprised when he learns that Su-jeong has not exposed the inscription.

At home, Su-jeong tells Hee-sook about her discovery. Tae-kyeong then texts her and asks her to reconsider reporting the matter to the hospital board. However, Hee-sook sees an opportunity to extort money from Director Bu using the photographs. Su-jeong refuses to let her exploit the situation and returns to her room to think about the inscription.

Su-jeong

That night, Su-jeong dreams about attacking military men who carve similar marks into young children’s faces. The following morning, Hee-sook wakes her up for work.

At the board meeting, the members praise Dae-il for impressing several patients during his first month at GUMC. Elsewhere, Su-jeong, Tae-kyeong, and Won-jin finally tell Chung-hyeon what Dae-il did. Although the revelation shocks him, Chung-hyeon avoids discussing it. Instead, he mentions that his wife will soon deliver their child at the hospital. Su-jeong realizes that he does not want to cause a scene.

Tae-kyeong feels guilty about concealing the incident but decides to continue working with Dae-il as if nothing happened. Won-jin also struggles to write a report about the surgery. When she speaks to Su-jeong, the surgeon admits that she feels terrible about ignoring Dae-il’s actions.

Su-jeong Confronts Dae-il

Dr. Bae and Seong-gyu soon inform Su-jeong and the others that Dr. Do and Dae-il are visiting Chung-hyeon. Worried about their interaction, Su-jeong and Won-jin rush to the patient’s room. Chung-hyeon cannot look Dae-il in the eye, but the latter behaves as though nothing has happened. Su-jeong stops him from touching the patient and orders both doctors to leave.

Dae-il follows Su-jeong and openly discusses the inscription. He even brags about what he did to Chung-hyeon. Outraged by his lack of remorse, Su-jeong sends the photographs to Hee-sook, allowing her to expose his wrongdoing. She then returns to caring for her other patients while Dae-il watches her from a distance.

That night, Chung-hyeon struggles to accept the betrayal. He had considered Dae-il his saviour for years, only to discover that the doctor had lied to him. Meanwhile, Dr. Do expresses his satisfaction with Dae-il’s appointment during dinner. His remarks upset Won-jin, while Dr. Bae reveals that Dae-il is scheduled for liver surgery based on his recent test results.

Later, Su-jeong checks on Chung-hyeon and finds him crying. He explains that he sees the inscription whenever he looks in the mirror. As Su-jeong tries to comfort him, Hee-sook sends her Dae-il’s test results.

Dae-il Faces the Consequences in Doctor X: Mafia in White Episode 5

The next morning, Dae-il wakes up after his surgery and requests the operation footage. Seong-gyu explains that obtaining approval to review it will be difficult because Dae-il is now a patient himself.

Su-jeong visits him and draws the initials “D.N.” on his food, hoping to frighten him. Dae-il later tries to speak with Dr. Mun Yeon-jeong but discovers that the doctor did not perform his operation. He learns that he arrived drunk before surgery and that Su-jeong replaced him. The revelation frightens him.

Although Dae-il manages to watch the surgical footage, he panics because he cannot clearly see what Su-jeong is doing. Meanwhile, Hee-sook and her friends arrive at the emergency room to take Su-jeong home.

Na Dae-il

Dae-il suddenly appears and charges at Su-jeong. He accuses her of carving the initials into his liver. Su-jeong responds that, unlike Chung-hyeon’s permanent inscription, hers will disappear within ten days.

Dae-il attempts to attack her, but Tae-kyeong intervenes. Su-jeong pushes him aside, and Dae-il cuts her arm with a scalpel. When Hee-sook sees Su-jeong bleeding, she becomes furious. She attacks Dae-il for injuring her highest-earning “cash cow.” Director Bu arrives shortly after learning about the confrontation.

Su-jeong

The surgeons argue over who should stitch Su-jeong’s wound. However, she chooses Tae-kyeong to perform the task. The following day, the doctors learn that GUMC has fired Dae-il and launched an investigation into his misconduct against Chung-hyeon.

Chung-hyeon later brings drinks for the doctors and claims that he did not know about Dae-il’s actions. Meanwhile, Tae-kyeong places Su-jeong’s jacket on her seat in the staff room before rushing to give her a new lab coat embroidered with her name. The doctors soon discover that Su-jeong will return to GUMC to replace Dae-il.

Su-jeong’s Final Trick Leaves Dae-il Furious

Director Bu visits Dae-il in prison and asks how the inscription remained visible for so many years. Dae-il shows no remorse for his actions. In response, Director Bu promises to do everything possible to revoke his medical licence and prevent him from harming another patient. However, Dae-il threatens to sue GUMC over what Su-jeong did during his surgery.

Back in the operating room, Tae-kyeong wonders whether Su-jeong really carved the initials into Dae-il’s liver. Dae-il’s lawyer then delivers his test results, revealing the truth behind Su-jeong’s claim. He discovers that she lied about making the inscription to provoke him.

The revelation leaves Dae-il furious. Su-jeong has outsmarted him, and he can do little but face the consequences of his own actions.

Episode 5 of Doctor X: Mafia in White delivers a satisfying confrontation as Su-jeong challenges Dae-il’s arrogance and exposes his unethical treatment of a patient. The emotional scenes highlight the lasting impact of medical misconduct, while Su-jeong’s clever retaliation adds a touch of dark humor. The episode ends on a compelling note, reinforcing Su-jeong’s determination to hold corrupt doctors accountable.
