On March 13, Still Shining premiered its episode 3 and 4 on Netflix. Episode 3 shows Tae-seo and Eun-a struggling to find time for each other while pursuing their goals. Missed plans and growing obligations create tension, highlighting the difficulties of maintaining a young romance.

Love Tested by New Demands in Still Shining Episode 3
Still Shining episode 3 opens with Eun-a starting a part-time job at the hotel Seong-chan recommended. After finishing her first shift, she returns home exhausted but still tells him she enjoyed the experience. In response, Seong-chan encourages her to apply for the hotel’s summer internship program.
Over the weekend, Eun-a travels to Seoul to see Tae-seo and shares the news with him. She explains that interns stay in a separate dorm and adds that she hopes to work in a department where she can actually use her abilities.
After their meal, Tae-seo walks her to the bus stop before she heads home. Before leaving, he promises to visit her again the following weekend. However, when that weekend arrives, Eun-a comes back from work completely drained. Even so, she still makes time for Tae-seo, who sneaks into her room once again.
This time, Seong-chan notices him entering the house and clearly disapproves. Soon after, So-hyeon approaches Eun-a’s room with food, hears Tae-seo’s voice, and demands that they open the door. Tae-seo then admits that he and Eun-a are dating and apologizes for sneaking in. Eun-a, however, grows irritated with So-hyeon and resents her attempt to act like a parent.
Later that night, Eun-a opens up about the constant tension in her family and admits that it often leaves her unhappy. Tae-seo tries to comfort her and urges her to focus on the present instead of worrying too much about the future. Meanwhile, Tae-seo faces pressure of his own when a senior approaches him about joining a research project after graduation. Still, he makes his priorities clear and says he plans to start working as soon as he finishes university.

Growing Distance Between Tae-seo and Eun-a
Not long after, Eun-a plans another date with Tae-seo for Saturday. He checks his schedule, notices a self-study session that day, and moves it to Sunday so they can meet. However, Seong-chan soon contacts Eun-a about a new opening at the hotel. He introduces her to Yun Da-jeong, the VIP hall manager, who offers her a position in that department.
When Da-jeong asks her to come in on the same day she promised Tae-seo, Eun-a agrees without thinking. Only later does she realize she already had plans with him. Meanwhile, Tae-seo clears his own schedule to make time for her and even cancels several tutoring sessions, which frustrates the parents of his students with exams drawing near.
That night, Tae-seo stays at his friend Hyeong-seok’s tutoring center, where he crosses paths with Im A-sol, a student known for following every rule. While Tae-seo tries to get some sleep, A-sol complains to Hyeong-seok about someone using a seat she had already claimed.
Later, Tae-seo tutors another student, and the parent asks him to add an extra class on the same day as his planned date with Eun-a. At first, he refuses. However, the situation changes when Eun-a messages him to say that she has to work that day. Frustrated by yet another canceled plan, Tae-seo finally agrees to take the extra session.
On his way back to the dorm, Hui-seo calls and reminds Tae-seo to study hard because their grandparents are sacrificing so much to support them. After that, the weeks begin to blur together. Tae-seo spends most of his time studying or tutoring, while Eun-a pours her energy into hotel work. As a result, she slowly becomes more capable and confident when dealing with guests.
After finishing his final exams, Tae-seo texts Eun-a and tells her that he wants to visit her at the hotel. Although Eun-a says she will not have much free time, she agrees to meet him during her lunch break. Tae-seo arrives early and waits for her, but Eun-a gets delayed while talking with her coworkers. On top of that, her uniform prevents her from freely meeting him in public areas.

Separate Paths Begin to Form
When they finally see each other, the moment feels brief and restrained. Tae-seo tells her that he will stay in town during the summer break and hopes they can spend more time together. Soon after, Seong-chan approaches Eun-a and questions her for meeting Tae-seo while still in uniform.
As Tae-seo leaves, Eun-a runs after him and apologizes for not being able to stay with him longer. Soon after, she hurries back to work while he boards the bus to Seoul. During the ride, Tae-seo notices his grandmother struggling with her luggage. He immediately prepares to get off and help her. However, before he can move, his grandfather arrives and takes care of her instead. Watching them from inside the bus, Tae-seo grows emotional and quietly fights back tears.
Back in Seoul, Tae-seo speaks with his senior once more about the research project. This time, he makes his decision clear. He says he does not want to continue studying after graduation and would rather start working as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Eun-a shares her own decision at home. One evening, she tells Seon-gyu and So-hyeon that she plans to move into the dorm once her internship begins. Although Seon-gyu feels sad about it, he chooses to respect her space as she gets ready for a new chapter.
The next morning, Eun-a asks her father to take care of himself while she is away. Before leaving, she also asks So-hyeon to watch over him in her place. After that, Eun-a settles into the dormitory and begins adjusting to life there. At the same time, Tae-seo returns to his grandparents’ house, marking another shift in their increasingly separate routines.
Different Dreams for Tae-seo and Eun-a
Expecting to see Eun-a after work, Tae-seo spends the day helping his grandfather with small chores around the house. Unaware that she has already moved into the dorm, he waits for her to return home. Eventually, he calls her and learns the truth. When they finally meet, their conversation turns painful as they realize how much their lives have diverged.
Eun-a admits that their schedules rarely align and suggests ending the relationship. She explains that it would be better to part ways than continue struggling to find time for each other. Tae-seo is visibly heartbroken but reluctantly accepts her decision.
In the following weeks, Eun-a immerses herself in work while occasionally reflecting on the future plans she once shared with Tae-seo. Months later, Tae-seo returns to town for the winter holidays and spends time with his family. On his journey back to Seoul, he reminisces about the memories he shared with Eun-a, particularly their early days studying together in the library. The episode closes with a ten-year time jump, showing Tae-seo now working as a train operator in Seoul.
