The record continues Roessler’s minimalist, bass-driven approach. It expands the sound introduced in her 2021 solo debut. The focus remains on space, tone, and restraint. The result is a quiet but emotionally charged collection.

Roessler says:

Enigma is the continuation of the narration of my life through song. Honest, if over-dramatized statements about what is in those moments. Leaning into the raw feeling of it all. I feel very lucky to be able to share some new music with those who listen.

The album was co-produced with her brother Paul Roessler of Screamers. Petra Haden also appears on backing vocals. Her contributions add subtle texture to the stripped-down arrangements. The core remains minimal, but the palette feels wider.

“How Could You” gives an early look at the record’s direction. It carries a loose, jazz-influenced flow. It still stays grounded in Roessler’s controlled bass-led style.

“Since I rarely find myself in conflict with anyone, there it was,” she explains. “How could you hurt me, even if I was wrong. Treated as a jazzy mantra, because that’s what came out.”

Roessler is best known for her work with Black Flag. Her bass style helped reshape the band’s later sound. She also performs in the duo dos with her brother. Outside music, she has worked in film and television. Her credits include Mad Max: Fury Road, Game of Thrones, and Project Hail Mary.

Enigma continues her long focus on restraint and detail. The album favors mood over urgency. It builds emotion through space rather than excess.

The album will be available on vinyl, CD, and digital formats. All editions will be released on July 10 via Org Music.
