Absolute Value of Romance premiered its first episode, introducing Eui-ju and her interest in writing Boys’ Love novels.
On April 17, Absolute Value of Romance just dropped its first episode on Coupang Play and Prime Video. The episode introduces 18-year-old BL writer Eui-ju. Despite writing multiple novels, she does not receive any recognition. However, a story comes to her mind when she sees her four handsome neighbors, who happen to be her new homeroom teachers.

The Chaotic Beginning in Absolute Value of Romance Episode 1 Recap
Eui-ju, an 18-year-old high school student, writes romance novels under the pen name Imuk. She struggles to gain attention for her BL stories online. Furthermore, she often imagines dramatic scenarios and even dreams about facing consequences for her exaggerated plot twists. Only her brother, Eui-do, knows her secret, and he frequently uses it to tease or pressure her.
One day, she notices four young men living nearby. She instantly imagines them as couples and becomes fascinated by their possible stories. Later, she begins to build fictional narratives around their lives.
The next day, Eui-ju heads to school and encounters two of the men. She sees them arguing and quietly takes sides in her mind. However, Ga Woo-su catches her observing them. He accuses her of filming him and his friend and demands she delete the footage. Eui-ju denies everything and argues back. Woo-su tries to grab her phone, but he accidentally breaks it. This leaves her upset. Instead of apologizing, he threatens her.
At school, Eui-ju meets her best friend, Choi Go-ya. She tells her about the four men and her broken phone. Moreover, she opens up about her struggles as a writer. Go-ya encourages her and asks to read her work. Eui-ju agrees, but only after she becomes successful on the writing platform.
Eui-ju’s New Homeroom Teachers
The school announces the arrival of four new male teachers. Students rush to the staff room to see them. Eui-ju joins the crowd and freezes in shock. She recognises all four men. They are her neighbours.
Later, students talk about the new teachers. Jung Gi-jeon teaches PE and once competed as a national athlete. Noh Da-ju teaches Japanese and English and speaks multiple languages. Yoon Dong-ju teaches Korean Literature and works as a novelist. Ga Woo-su teaches math and carries a reputation as a genius.
Eui-ju sits with Go-ya in class and discusses the situation. They learn that one of the new teachers will become their homeroom teacher. Both react with excitement. However, Eun Ha-su, the top student, criticizes their loud behavior.
Elsewhere in Absolute Value of Romance, the four teachers settle into their office. Da-ju and Woo-su quickly clash and start arguing while arranging their desks.
Later, Eui-ju and Go-ya go to the canteen. They buy snacks and talk about first love. The conversation feels light and carefree. Finally, Eui-ju returns to class and stops in surprise. Woo-su stands in front of her as her new class teacher.
Episode 1 of Absolute Value of Romance already builds a playful ambiance around Eui-ju. Her encounter with the four teachers marks just the beginning of her epic journey as a BL writer. The episode builds strong anticipation for the characters.
