Son Lux returns with “Endlessly” ahead of ninth album Out Into on September 18, proving we’re always evolving as we learn who we are.

Son Lux returns with a powerful new chapter. The two-time Oscar and BAFTA-nominated collective shares its new single “Endlessly” and announces their ninth studio album Out Into, set for release on September 18 via This Is Meru/City Slang.

Son Lux Out Into Album

The group—Ryan Lott, Rafiq Bhatia, and Ian Chang—continues to push boundaries in modern experimental music. With “Endlessly,” Son Lux delivers a track that feels both intimate and expansive. At the same time, the single sets the tone for an album built on instinct, rhythm, and emotional depth.

Album Coming Soon: Out Into

Across nearly two decades, Son Lux has built a reputation for cinematic soundscapes and bold composition. However, Out Into marks a clear shift in approach. This time, the trio leans into immediacy. They focus on first ideas. They also treat early voice memos as essential creative material. As a result, the album grows from raw and unfiltered moments of inspiration.

“Endlessly” reflects that approach. The track carries both urgency and clarity. In addition, it delivers a strong message of identity and self-acceptance. The song was commissioned by The Bluecoats, a world-renowned marching ensemble. It stands as an anthem that encourages listeners to embrace who they are without hesitation.

Deeper Insight into Out Into and “Endlessly”

Ryan Lott expands on the meaning behind the record. He explains that the songs explore loss and rediscovery. He also reflects on how people often lose themselves in relationships, work, and ambition. Then he raises a central question: how do we find ourselves again? More importantly, how do we change while still staying true to who we are?

He adds:

We’re continually changing as we learn who we are. That’s partly what ‘Out Into’ means. We come out of something and into something else. Every moment is an exit and an entrance at the same time.

Meanwhile, Rafiq Bhatia adds another layer to the vision. He notes that Son Lux does not simply create music—they create shared experiences. He explains that the lyrics connect closely with how the band works in the studio. Every idea comes through collaboration, trust, and openness. As a result, the music feels immediate and deeply human.

At the same time, Ian Chang highlights rhythm and texture. He points to the influence of hip-hop, especially the boom-bap era. He cites artists like J Dilla and Madlib as key inspirations. In addition, he explains that the group aims to preserve a “handmade” feel in their music. Even in an age shaped by digital tools, they continue to prioritize imperfection, touch, and human feel.

Ultimately, “Endlessly” opens the door to this new era. It invites listeners into a space where change is constant and creativity remains alive. As Son Lux moves Out Into, they continue to redefine what modern composition can sound like.
