Formed by Brooks Wackerman of Avenged Sevenfold and Bad Religion, alongside John Konesky of Tenacious D, MISSOULA strips rock music down to its core elements. With no vocals to anchor the track, “Crimson” leans entirely on the interplay between guitar and drums. This highlighted the duo’s precision and chemistry.

Following the earlier release “Love Bombs,” the new single presents a heavier and more deliberate sound. Konesky’s fluid guitar lines carry a near narrative quality, while Wackerman delivers tightly controlled, hard-hitting percussion. The result feels closer to a cinematic score than a conventional rock single, shifting dynamically without losing momentum.

“Crimson” also reflects the broader direction of Death Doula. Across the album, MISSOULA moves between dense, riff-driven passages and more melodic, open arrangements. Despite these shifts, the project maintains a consistent sense of intention. The duo avoids excess, favoring restraint to create a more focused and impactful sound.

Konesky described the project as an exercise in creative freedom. He says it represents “what happens when you take the reins off and let yourself run free… through an infinite universe.” That ethos is evident in the band’s approach, which prioritizes instinct and cohesion over traditional song structures.

While MISSOULA may appear as a side project on paper, Death Doula positions itself as a fully realized artistic statement. With “Crimson” now streaming, the duo offers a clear introduction to a collaboration. One that is built on experience, discipline, and a shared commitment to pushing instrumental rock forward.

Listeners can now stream “Crimson” and look forward to Death Doula, as MISSOULA prepares to unveil their debut album on June 26.
