New York City alternative-pop artist Jess Yaffa is gearing up to release her debut EP, False Spring, on November 20. In the meantime, she gives fans another taste of the upcoming five-track project with her latest single, “Found God,” out October 23.
Following “Spill My Guts,” the new single further introduces the sound and themes behind False Spring. This time, Jess Yaffa captures the fast-paced, carefree energy of her early twenties. However, beneath its vibrant sound, “Found God” explores a deeper search for identity and purpose.
Drawing from her experiences in New York City, the song reflects how people explore new experiences and beliefs as they figure out who they are beyond their upbringing. Sometimes, these moments of discovery happen in unexpected places, even in the back of a cab.
Ultimately, “Found God” highlights the importance of finding something to believe in while learning to trust yourself.
Upcoming False Spring
With False Spring, Jess Yaffa takes full control of her creative direction. For the first time, she wrote, recorded, and produced an entire project on her own. She also conceptualized and produced its accompanying music videos, bringing her artistic vision to life across both music and visuals.
The EP takes its title from a weather phenomenon in which a brief warm spell makes winter seem over, only for the cold to return. Similarly, Jess Yaffa uses this concept to explore the uncertainties of adulthood. Moments of independence, love, and confidence may make life feel settled. Yet, unexpected challenges can quickly change that sense of stability.
Musically, False Spring centers on alternative-pop while incorporating catchy pop hooks, rock, roots-rock textures, and intimate singer-songwriter storytelling. Instead of following a single formula, Jess Yaffa allows each track to develop its own distinct sound.
