Mr. Kim’s Final Assignment in Agent Kim Reactivated Episode 8
Agent Kim Reactivated episode 8 opens with Mr. Kim enduring another round of brutal interrogation in North Korea. Several days appear to have passed, as he now has a full beard and visible signs of torture. Despite the abuse, he refuses to reveal anything about his life in South Korea.
When an interrogator threatens Min-ji, Mr. Kim immediately kills him and breaks free. However, he soon discovers that the entire interrogation was staged. Mole Cricket and his superior reveal that the South Korean intelligence service orchestrated the test to confirm Mr. Kim’s loyalty.
The agency offers Mr. Kim one final mission. In return, they promise new identities for him and Min-ji, along with a peaceful future. His assignment is to protect a high-ranking North Korean official who plans to defect during the upcoming inter-Korean talks. Mr. Kim accepts the mission but only after securing guarantees for Min-ji’s safety and the release of Han-soo and Jin-cheol.
Meanwhile, Han-soo and Jin-cheol regain consciousness after being tranquilized and abandoned in a remote area. Han-soo eventually reaches a nearby convenience store and realizes they have been left in Haenam, the southernmost part of South Korea. Jin-cheol soon catches up with him.
New Threats for Kim
Elsewhere, Mr. Ju continues to brood over his defeat at Mr. Kim’s hands. During a meeting with the assemblyman, they discuss the political opportunities tied to the upcoming inter-Korean talks. The assemblyman also reveals that both Mr. Kim and Min-ji have effectively disappeared from official records.
Back home, Jin-cheol reunites with his family. However, his daughter barely notices his absence, while his wife runs away after complaining about his smell.
Meanwhile, a boat carrying a North Korean defector reaches international waters before transferring its passenger to another vessel bound for South Korea. Mr. Kim waits onshore to receive the defector.
To his surprise, the defector turns out to be his former superior. The former director general admits he fled North Korea after being exposed for leaking intelligence during the failed mission that killed the original Number 66. He also possesses valuable information about North Korea’s missile program, making him an extremely important asset.
Mr. Kim escorts him to a safe house, where Sang-a and the laundromat owner are already waiting. At the same time, Mole Cricket brings Min-ji to the Special Missions Directorate and tells her she will only see her father again if he successfully completes his mission.
Agent Kim Reactivated Episode 8 Recap: Trouble at the Safe House
The team tightens security around the safe house as they prepare for possible attacks. They also discover that the former director general concealed an information disk inside a wound on his body.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ju tours his luxury resort with North Korean officials and the Vice Minister. During a private conversation, the Vice Minister and Mr. Ju agree to work together against Mr. Kim.
Elsewhere, Han-soo and Jin-cheol reunite over drinks. Han-soo admits he has lost most of his students following the Special Missions Directorate incident, while Jin-cheol reveals that the agency confiscated his entire weapons collection.
Han-soo later receives a call from his son’s school after Tae-hun gets into a fight. Instead of scolding him, Han-soo takes his son to spar with him as a lesson. Meanwhile, Jin-cheol repeatedly tries to contact his daughter, but she ignores his calls.
Back at the safe house, one of the surveillance cameras suddenly stops working. The laundromat owner heads out to inspect it, while the others watch live coverage of the inter-Korean summit.
During the diplomatic meeting, the North Korean delegation arrives with a convoy of twelve vehicles. South Korea’s Prime Minister proposes establishing a free trade zone, but the North Korean representatives postpone the discussion.
Soon after, the North Korean delegation learns that Ri Eung-ryeong is hiding in South Korea. Mr. Ju secretly offers intelligence on the defector and persuades the delegation to let him eliminate Mr. Kim once they locate the safe house.
Race Against Time
The safe house suddenly goes into lockdown as agents close in on the location. Mr. Kim and his team appear to escort the former director general through a nearby forest, drawing the attackers away from the building.
However, the escape is only a diversion. While the pursuers chase the decoys, Mr. Kim quietly leaves through another route with the former director general.
During the escape, Mr. Kim realizes someone inside the Special Missions Directorate may be leaking information. He immediately warns Sang-a that a mole could be compromising every operation.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ju and the North Korean delegation receive news that the escape failed. Mr. Ju offers to help capture the former director general alive and secure him before anyone else can.
Eventually, Mr. Kim takes the defector to Jin-cheol’s trailer. Han-soo and Jin-cheol are stunned to see Mr. Kim alive after believing he had been transferred permanently.
Their reunion proves short-lived. Mole Cricket and the Special Missions Directorate quickly surround the trailer. He announces that Mr. Kim has failed his mission and declares that both Mr.Kim and the former director general will be returned to North Korea, bringing the episode to a tense conclusion.
