Perfect Crown Episode 6 Recap:  Grand Prince Yi An Proposes to Hui-ju

At the Inner Court Banquet since episode 5, the event continues into the night as Seong Hui-ju arrives in a dazzling outfit, leaving Grand Prince Yi An both awed and slightly frustrated by her long preparation. Yi An also invites the young king to attend, despite not being required by Queen Mother Yi-rang. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Min Jeong-woo arrives with the Queen Mother.

As the banquet begins, Hui-ju and Yi An immediately become the center of attention because of their striking presence. Shortly after, the two share a royal dance, placing them both at the center of the performance. During the dance, Hui-ju remarks on how they seem to be drawing attention as if they are foolishly in love.

Then, Yi An ends the dance by kneeling and proposing marriage to Hui-ju, surprising everyone in the palace, including Queen Mother Yi-rang and Prime Minister Min Jeong-woo. Hui-ju accepts his proposal, and the hall fills with applause and celebration as fireworks light up the sky.

However, Queen Mother Yi-rang reacts with anger. The couple later approaches the young king for his blessing, and he approves their union despite Yi-rang’s opposition. He wishes them happiness.

Afterward, Yi-rang tries to stop the marriage by asking Prime Minister Min to use his veto power. However, he refuses, stating that the king has already given his blessing in front of everyone. He says, “The Crown and the Cabinet must remain unified.”

Queen Mother Yi-rang Opposes the Marriage

After the proposal, Yi An asks Queen Mother Yi-rang to dance. During their conversation, Yi-rang warns that she will not easily allow the marriage to happen. However, Yi An asks if she truly plans to go against the king’s royal command. Shocked by his response, Yi-rang listens as Yi An explains that he simply wants his marriage to happen on his own terms. With the king already giving his command, Yi-rang can no longer openly interfere.

At the same time, Hui-ju invites Prime Minister Min Jeong-woo to dance with her. As Jeong-woo notices her engagement ring, he reflects on how he has stayed by her side since high school before accepting her invitation. While dancing, Hui-ju asks if he is still against her marriage to Yi An. She says that if Jeong-woo stops supporting her, she will have no one left.

Soon, the dance partners switch again, reuniting Hui-ju with Yi An while Jeong-woo dances with Queen Mother Yi-rang. Yi-rang notices the way Jeong-woo looks at Hui-ju. Returning to their partners, Jeong-woo asks Hui-ju to promise that she will never lie to him again, assuring her that he will always stay by her side if she does.

Later that night, Hui-ju admires her engagement ring, which once belonged to Yi An’s late mother. When Hui-ju asks if she can truly keep it, Yi An replies that it is a national treasure and must be returned after their divorce.

Their conversation later turns emotional when Hui-ju points out that Yi An must have been his mother’s favorite since she passed the ring down to him instead of the late king. Yi An then reveals that his father hated that decision, saying his father detested giving him anything.

Hui-ju’s Father Wants Someone Inside the Palace for Hui-ju

After the banquet, Yi An warmly watches Seong Hui-ju as she excitedly checks media coverage of their engagement. At the same time, Hui-ju’s brother, Tae-joon, grows worried after learning that the man who tampered with her car has suddenly died.

The next day, Lord Inpyeong discusses Yi An and Hui-ju’s marriage with Queen Mother Yi-rang. He offers to convince the king to rescind his command, but Yi-rang refuses. She argues that “a royal command that can be overturned in the blink of an eye is no command at all.” She then reveals that Yi An knows about the late king’s dying wish.

The episode flashes back to the late king’s final moments. Before his death, he expressed his desire to pass the throne to Yi An instead. Furious, Yi-rang tore apart the official command. Believing Yi An may know the truth and possibly have evidence against her, Yi-rang decides she has no choice but to accept the marriage for now. She also believes Hui-ju could become Yi An’s weakness, making it safer to keep her close within the palace.

Meanwhile, Hui-ju’s father asks Da-yeong, Tae-joon’s wife, to place someone inside the palace through her family to protect Hui-ju. He explains that he wants his daughter to have at least one person she can trust inside the royal court.

Later, Da-yeong questions her husband about his father’s sudden concern for her, since she always believed he disliked her. However, Hui-ju’s brother admits that while their father may dislike her, he hates seeing others mistreat her even more.

Hui-ju Returns to Yi An’s Private Residence in Perfect Crown Episode 6

Seong Hui-ju takes part in an interview about her relationship with Yi An. During the interview, she tells the media that they first knew each other in high school and describes Yi An as overly protective. She shares, “He must think that I’d break at the lightest touch. As if I were made of glass.”

Later that night, Yi An reads the draft of the interview and smiles while going through it. At the same time, Hui-ju returns to Yi An’s private residence, where the royal helpers warmly welcome her back. Knowing that Queen Mother Yi-rang planted a spy inside the residence, Hui-ju’s secretary, Hye-jung, also moves in to stay close to her.

The next day, Hui-ju heads to the palace to plan their wedding with Prime Minister Min Jeong-woo accompanying them. Jeong-woo explains that the royal wedding could help remind the public that the Crown still remains strong. However, Yi An quickly grows jealous after noticing how close Hui-ju and Jeong-woo are. He warns Jeong-woo to mind his behavior toward Hui-ju since she will soon become his wife.

In response, Jeong-woo says they do not need to pretend in front of him. Hui-ju then admits that Jeong-woo already knows everything about their arrangement. Jeong-woo later promises to support them until their divorce is finalized.

Afterward, Hui-ju apologizes to Yi An and explains that keeping Jeong-woo informed benefits them because they still need the Cabinet’s approval for the wedding. Still irritated, Yi An warns Hui-ju not to trust people too easily. Hui-ju fires back by saying she trusts Jeong-woo more than him since Jeong-woo has stayed by her side since school.

Yi An and Hui-ju Plan Their Divorce in Perfect Crown Episode 6

The tension rises as Yi An and Hui-ju begin discussing their marriage terms and future divorce, which they agree will happen after at least three years. Yi An also explains that anything granted through royal status must be returned after divorce. However, Hui-ju firmly responds that she will not give up her title or rank, and Yi An agrees that she can retain them as long as she avoids public scandal or legal violations.

Next, Yi An sets clear boundaries, stating that all matters related to the palace and their relationship must remain confidential during and after the marriage. He adds, “If secrecy proves difficult, just forget it happened. It’s all pretend anyway. It won’t matter.”

Soon after, Queen Mother Yi-rang arrives to check on the wedding preparations. In response, Yi An holds Hui-ju’s hand as they face her together.

Meanwhile, Aide Choi-hyun and Secretary Hye-jung share dinner and talk about the couple. Choi-hyun worries that Yi An and Hui-ju might actually fall in love. Hye-jung dismisses the idea, saying Hui-ju prefers someone who comes and goes on command. She adds that a man used to control and a woman used to control others won’t ever work together.

Back at the palace, Yi An, Hui-ju, and Queen Mother Yi-rang share dinner together, which turns into a night of drinking and heavy conversation. Yi-rang talks about Yi An’s past and brings up how his father would react to the marriage, creating tension. She then reveals the meaning of Yi An’s name: “Yi” meaning rule and “An” meaning peace, saying it reminds him not to harm the stability of the Crown.

Sensing the tension, Hui-ju excuses herself while holding Yi An’s hand. Yi An tightens his grip, silently showing his support as they leave together.

Hui-ju Encourages Yi An to Do Whatever He Wants

After leaving, Hui-ju finally vents her frustration toward the Queen Mother. She then tells Yi An to hold on, promising that once they are married, she will clear anyone standing in his way. Yi An can’t help but smile at her seriousness and asks her to take him out of the palace.

After that, they drive out of the palace, with Yi An expressing how much he enjoys driving because it feels like flying. Hearing that, Hui-ju then takes him to her yacht, pushing that sense of flying even further.

On the yacht, Hui-ju encourages him to forget royal restrictions and just do what he wants with her. She continues to show him a carefree side of life, even taking him out into the sea wind where he feels like he is flying. The moment becomes more intimate as they stumble into each other and grow closer.

Eventually, Yi An kisses Hui-ju, reminding her that she told him to do whatever he wants. Episode 6 ends with Hui-ju responding by deepening the kiss.
