We Are All Trying Here episode 2 follows Dong-man as he returns home, overwhelmed by Choi’s harsh criticism. He eats endlessly, trying to cope with the weight of those words.
Soon after, his situation turns almost absurd. He now wears a neck brace and a cast on his arm. Moreover, he shouts his own name at full volume, as if trying to reclaim himself. Naturally, Eun-a hears everything from her room. In fact, Dong-man did not injure Producer Choi at all. Instead, he climbed onto a coffee table, slipped on his own screenplay, and crashed face-first.
However, his shouting brings consequences. Later that day, the police arrived due to a noise complaint. They suspect his older brother, Jin-man, causes the disturbance. Yet only one Dong-man lives in the area. As a result, he struggles to explain himself. Elsewhere, Eun-a shares a quiet breakfast with her grandmother. Her grandmother believes Eun-a still sees Jae-yeong and even prepares side dishes for him. Although the details remain unclear, their past relationship seems to have ended poorly.
Meanwhile, Dong-man’s standing worsens. The Eight gather to decide his fate. Gyeong-se leads the charge and argues that Dong-man ruins everything. Furthermore, he labels him beyond redemption. Dong-man Gets Pushed Out and Hits His Lowest Point

Back inside, Ko Hye-jin—Gyeong-se’s wife and CEO of Gobak Film—takes control of the situation. She speaks to Dong-man bluntly. Moreover, she makes her stance clear: his presence only brings stress and disrupts her peace. She decides to cut ties. In addition, she firmly leads him outside, leaving no room for argument.
Dong-man stands there, stunned. He realizes how little he truly connects with others. Aside from Eun-a, he has never shared a genuine conversation with anyone in the group.
His situation worsens further. At his grandparents’ memorial service, he faces public humiliation. Meanwhile, his brother, Hwang Jin-man, grows frustrated with his behavior. Eun-a struggles under intense stress. She suffers frequent nosebleeds, and her condition worsens each day. Moreover, her colleagues notice the change. Under Choi’s constant scrutiny, she begins to lose the sharp edge that once defined her work.
Seeking answers, Eun-a visits a specialist. He examines the emotions tied to her condition. During these episodes, her watch displays “unknown.” In reality, this state combines anger, despair, and sadness, along with a strong sense of desperation. Eun-a recognizes the pattern. She names this destructive state, aware of how dangerous it feels. Furthermore, she recalls its origin. It began when she was nine years old. Back then, she experienced the same symptoms whenever she felt powerless, isolated, or unable to breathe.
Meanwhile, tensions rise elsewhere. The next day, Jin-man arrives at the bar where The Eight gather. A sign reading “No Dong-man” hangs on the door, creating an uneasy mood. Jin-man confronts them without hesitation. He accuses them of acting like bullies. In response, they fire back with insults. As a result, Jin-man throws a glass in anger—and earns himself a ban as well.
Later, Jin-man returns home and speaks with Dong-man. He urges his brother to stand up for himself. However, Dong-man responds with honesty. He admits he only wants to feel less anxious. Jin-man grows frustrated. He tells Dong-man to find a woman, claiming he cannot handle life alone. Then, he walks away, leaving Dong-man to sit with his thoughts.
Dong-man Can Shine Too
As news of Dong-man’s ban spreads, Eun-a lashes out at her colleagues. She defends him, standing alone in her belief that they misunderstand him. Soon after, she runs into Dong-man again at the railway crossing. Dong-man presses her with a strange question. He asks where he can buy power. However, Eun-a does not joke this time. Instead, she offers a different answer. She suggests that love might be what he lacks.
Having read his screenplay, she sees no trace of it. Moreover, she recognizes his struggle because she faces the same emptiness. Her words carry weight, as both of them feel lost and powerless. Eun-a continues to spiral. She battles depression and growing exhaustion. Nevertheless, she discovers something important. She realizes that Dong-man represents a weakness for The Eight. As a result, she gains the confidence to push back against them.
The next day, Dong-man confronts Director Choi. He speaks with conviction about respect. Furthermore, he tells Choi to stop hiding behind his juniors, clearly referring to Eun-a. He then makes a bold promise—to succeed and prove them all wrong. With that, he leaves, striking a nerve. Back at the office, Eun-a cannot hide her smile.
