In Your Radiant Season Episode 2 Recap: Seonu Chan’s Turning Point
In Your Radiant Season episode 2 opens with Seonu Chan being caught in the blast at the Boston university. He wakes up in the hospital, and soon returns to South Korea for further treatment.
After the accident, Chan struggles with memory loss. He cannot recall the previous year, though Ha-ran’s face remains vivid in his mind. One day, he spots her on the street and follows her. Just as he is about to approach, fireworks explode, jolting his memory back.
A flashback reveals Ha-ran talking on the phone with another student, Kang Hyeok-chan. The call is on loudspeaker, allowing Chan to hear Ha-ran singing a melody to Hyeok-chan. Later, Hyeok-chan asks Chan to respond to Ha-ran on his behalf, claiming he’s in the lab.
Chan notices Ha-ran seems down, so he decides to talk to her himself. During this period, Hyeok-chan accidentally switches laptops with Chan and instructs him to ignore Ha-ran’s messages, though this isn’t what Chan does. Back in the present timeline, the fireworks trigger Chan’s full memory, and he walks away, processing everything.
Later, Ha-ran confronts Chan about his previous stalker-like behavior. Chan explains that he had looked up Nana Atelier’s employees beforehand, which is how he knew her name at the gallery. This clears the tension, and Ha-ran walks away. Suddenly, Chan notices a person dressed in black following Ha-ran. He alerts her, and they give chase. The person throws a bottle at Ha-ran, but Chan steps in, and the bottle hits his jacket instead.
The mysterious figure turns out to be a woman. Ha-young, who has been watching over Ha-ran, and Yeon Tae-suk, the atelier’s COO, get involved in the chase. At the police station, it’s revealed that the woman once worked with Ha-ran years ago and quit out of jealousy. Ha-ran recognizes her but decides not to press charges.
When the police mention that Chan may need medical care, Ha-ran follows him and leaves her card, insisting on covering any treatment or his ruined jacket. Back home, Ha-young convinces Na-na that Ha-ran is speaking with a potential boyfriend to stop her from nagging. She also suggests Ha-ran give Chan new clothes as a thank-you gift.

The Unexpected Encounters
A flashback shows Ha-ran putting all her family’s shoes in the bathtub, begging them to stay home. In the present, Ha-young reflects on this memory and her sister’s worry when she realized Ha-young wanted to chase the stalker.
Ha-ran drops off new clothes at Chan’s hotel. Seeing the rain, Chan comes down with an umbrella, but it is broken. Just then, an old acquaintance approaches Ha-ran, asking about why she has been AWOL. Panicked, she follows Chan to his room to escape. They awkwardly wait for Ben to return with a replacement umbrella.
Meanwhile, Mr. Park, the owner of Ha-ran’s favorite café, falls sick and is hospitalized. Ha-ran finds his dog, Genius, alone at the café and takes him home while Mr. Park recovers. Late that night, Mr. Park comes to Ha-ran’s house to pick up Genius.
He meets Na-na, who recognizes him as Park Man-jae from her hometown in Chuncheon. She remembers him from when she went by Na-bong. They catch up and talk about Ha-ran. Mr. Park recalls how he found Ha-ran crying in the rain outside his café seven years ago.
Later, Ha-ran notices the café’s lights are on and goes inside. She is surprised to see Chan, who explains that he has decided to stay with Mr. Park for the three months he will be in South Korea. He says he has been a regular at the café since arriving. Soon after, Mr. Park returns and greets them both.
The next day at work, Na-na sees Seonu Chan’s name written in Ha-ran’s folder—a leftover from when she thought he was her stalker. She deliberately turns a work meeting into a dinner to leave Ha-ran and Chan alone. Ha-ran receives a text from Na-na, realizing what happened, but she asks Chan not to reveal the misunderstanding.
During the dinner, a restaurant speaker malfunctions, triggering Chan’s ear injury. Disoriented, he rushes outside, with Ha-ran following. In the chaos, her engraved pen falls and is lost. Chan explains his injury, and Ha-ran offers her scarf to cover a stain on his shirt. She says she will explain the misunderstanding to her grandmother so she won’t feel indebted. Chan notices how carefully she maintains boundaries between them.

Ha-ran Lost her Pen
The next day, Ha-ran arrives at work with a cold. Panic hits when she realizes her engraved pen is missing, and she rushes back to the restaurant, only to find it isn’t there. A flashback shows Hyeok-chan asking Chan to pick up a gift for Ha-ran while he’s downtown.
Back in the present, Chan offers to help search for the pen after the restaurant closes. Ha-ran declines, saying it’s a personal matter, and asks him to leave.

At home, Chan tends to a small plant cutting in a glass of water. It had been withering, but he tried to revive it. Mr. Park notices that roots are forming and suggests it’s time to plant it in soil. This makes Chan reflect on Ha-ran’s situation. Mr. Park also spots Chan’s “memento mori” tattoo and asks if he is truly living without regrets. The question lingers in Chan’s mind, and he rushes back out of the house.
Meanwhile, Ha-ran, unable to find her pen, is about to leave the restaurant when Chan meets her again. He proposes that they intentionally meddle in each other’s lives, create moments of mutual indebtedness, and get to know each other over the next three months.
A flashback reveals a darker moment: Chan had been on the verge of committing suicide. But Ha-ran’s messages on the laptop he was using for Hyeok-chan distracted him and stopped him from going through with it.
In Your Radiant Season Episode 2 Review
Episode 2 of In Your Radiant Season drapes Ha-ran’s grief and Chan’s past trauma in a highly romantic glow. Every moment swings between joy and despair, turning the two lead characters into saviors for each other. The drama leans into sweeping emotions and heightened romance, which will appeal most to viewers who enjoy grand, melodramatic love stories.
The show continues to build an evocative atmosphere through its cinematography, lighting, and dialogue. The scene with Mr. Park and Chan, where they discuss the withering plant and Chan’s tattoo, exemplifies this.
Thoughtful metaphors, reflective conversations, and crescendoing music combine to create emotional weight, pushing Chan to help Ha-ran overcome her melancholy. Meanwhile, the hint of a romance between Ha-young and Yeon Tae-suk adds a lighter, sunshine-and-serious dynamic for fans of subtle romantic subplots.
On the other hand, the stalker storyline feels somewhat random, though it might tie into a larger plot later. Chan’s handling of Ha-ran’s messages, while emotionally charged, raises ethical questions that make parts of their interactions slightly uncomfortable.
It’s a modern catfish scenario repackaged in the magic of K-drama romance. How the show develops these threads will determine its impact, but for now, the episode succeeds in leaving viewers eager for what comes next.
Episodes of In Your Radiant Season airs every Friday and Saturday at 10:00 PM (KST) and 9:00 PM (PHT) via MBC and Disney+. The next episode will be on February 27.
