That Summer Episode 8 Recap: Lava and Wave reconciled

Lava starts treating Wave with respect — like a prince, completely different from before. But Wave remains mad at him for hiding that he’s a prince back in episode 7.

When their motorbike breaks down later on, they walk under the scorching heat, still distant. Later, they hitch a ride, and Wave finally snaps. He tells Lava to stop apologizing and calling him “Your Highness,” reminding him, “I told you, I’m still Wave. Just Wave.”

But Lava admits he doesn’t know how to act around Wave anymore: “The person I used to call my boyfriend suddenly became someone I can’t even touch now.” Eventually, Wave takes Lava’s hand and tells him: “I’m still the same Wave, your boyfriend,” and encourages Lava to treat him the same way as before.

Then, Lava clears up the misunderstanding from episode 7. He tells Wave that none of it was Paolo’s orders — it all came from his own feelings, and he never lied about any of it.

Peng wins the election and marries Dr. Wut

After winning the village head election, Peng rushes to Dr. Wut at the hospital and proposes in front of everyone, saying:

From now on, there will be no more secret places. Let’s love each other openly, so the whole island knows.

The next morning, Lava’s mom arrives on the island to help with Peng’s wedding. Later, she and Peng have a private talk. She mentions how happy Lava seems living on the island, and Peng explains it’s because here, Lava can finally be himself—free from expectations and pressure.

Their conversation deepens when Lava’s mom asks why Peng didn’t inform or invite their parents to the wedding, wanting him to understand them since they’re old. Peng admits that if he had waited for them, he would never have lived his own life and would have only followed what their parents wanted.

Lava’s mom grows emotional. She says that while Peng got to live freely, she had to constantly meet their parents’ expectations. Peng apologizes for being selfish, but she reassures him he wasn’t — he was brave. She adds that she’s glad she sent Lava to live with him, because he looks so happy, especially with Wave.

Soon after, Peng and Wut get married, receiving blessings and congratulations from everyone. The celebration extends into a party.

Tum takes the stage to sing, dedicating his song to Kratae, who inspires him to be a better person. Meanwhile, Lava and Wave slip away from the crowd and head to the pier together.

Lava and Wave promise to be together no matter what

When they arrive at the pier, Wave asks Lava if he’s interested in marriage. Lava replies, “I don’t think love needs any kind of certification. As long as the two people know, that’s enough.” Wave, however, says he wants to get married, seeing it as a promise between two people to love and take care of each other forever.

Lava responds that they don’t need a wedding to make a promise. He takes Wave’s hand, bites it as a symbolic engagement, and says, “I promise that no matter what happens, I’ll do everything I can to stay with you.” Wave reciprocates, promising, “No matter what happens, I’ll do whatever it takes for us to be together. No one will ever come between us.” They seal their promises with a kiss under the fireworks.

Then, Lava excuses himself to get the cake on their motorcycle, leaving Wave alone—unaware that Victor has returned to the island and shoots him. Lava immediately runs to save Wave after he falls into the sea.
