“Lizzy” pairs sharp, conversational lyrics with simmering romantic tension. The song follows a narrator who tries to convince herself that she hates someone she cannot seem to avoid. From attending a party she promised to skip to admitting, “I’m trying everything to hate you darling / I hate to say it but I can’t,” Regent captures the push and pull of an enemies-to-lovers romance.

Regent draws inspiration from the love stories she enjoys most. “My favorite love stories start with two enemies who spend all their time fighting their attraction to one another,” she explains. “I wanted to write a song that captured that stubborn inevitable love.”

From Imagination to Narrative-Driven Pop

Born and raised in Toronto, Regent now lives in Los Angeles. She creates immersive pop music that blends romance, anxiety, fantasy, and heartbreak. Her vivid imagination stems from childhood, when she staged elaborate plays for her family and escaped into fictional worlds. Today, she channels that creativity into narrative-driven songwriting that explores the intensity of everyday life.

Regent began writing songs at 12, but she pursued music more seriously during college, when she started collaborating with fellow songwriters and producers. Since her 2021 debut, she has released two EPs, MISS REGENT and Girl of Your Dreams, along with her 2025 debut album, On the phone with my mom.

Moreover, Regent continues to build a growing fanbase and attract attention from music publications such as Ones To Watch, Atwood Magazine, and EARMILK. With “Lizzy,” she further develops her signature storytelling style, turning the familiar tension of resisting romantic feelings into an engaging pop experience.
