Why was Lhan being hunted in My Dearest Assassin?

People hunted Lhan because she carried Aurum blood, the rarest blood type in the world. In the film, a powerful CEO used his wealth and influence to survive through blood transfusions from donors with the same blood type. However, matching donors were extremely rare. Because of this, he became desperate to find anyone with Aurum blood, including Lhan.

Furthermore, the people behind the operation viewed humans as mere resources instead of real individuals. They treated rare blood carriers as tools for survival and profit. As a result, they sent hunters across different countries to track them down.

Moreover, Lhan’s situation symbolized more than the CEO’s desire to stay alive. Her blood represented power, money, and control in a corrupt society where wealthy elites exploited vulnerable people for their own benefit.

The Hunter understood this reality very well. At first, he chased Lhan because he saw her as a valuable target with a massive price on her head. However, the mission gradually became personal. In addition, his repeated clashes with House 89 deepened his obsession with capturing her.

Why did Po bring Lhan to House 89?

At the beginning of the film, Po appeared to be Lhan’s protector. He rescued her from the Hunter and his men just in time, which immediately earned her trust. Because of this, Lhan believed Po wanted to keep her safe from the people chasing her. He later brought her to House 89, where she started living with Pran and M. Furthermore, Lhan spent years believing the assassins had taken her in purely out of kindness.

However, the story later revealed that Po had another reason for saving her. Although he genuinely cared about Lhan and wanted to protect her, he also saw her as important to Pran’s survival. Pran carried the same rare Aurum blood type, and compatible donors were extremely difficult to find. Because of this, Po viewed Lhan as a possible lifeline in case Pran ever needed blood in the future.

Moreover, this revelation completely changed how Lhan viewed Po and House 89. Po shielded her from the dangerous world outside, but his decisions were never entirely selfless. Instead, his love for Pran influenced nearly every choice he made, including bringing Lhan into their home.

Even so, the film does not portray Po as a complete villain. He raised Lhan, protected her, and treated her like family for many years. In addition, he sacrificed himself during the final assault on House 89 to save the others. This complexity made Po one of the film’s most tragic characters. He acted as both Lhan’s guardian and the man who took away her freedom.

What happened to Pran and M?

The ending of My Dearest Assassin delivers a tragic conclusion as both Pran and M sacrifice themselves to save Lhan. After House 89 defeats the Hunter and the Mala gang, the trio finally escapes the chaos. For a brief moment, they believe the nightmare has ended. However, Chaba survives the attack and suddenly ambushes them during their escape.

During the confrontation, Chaba badly injures Lhan, causing her to lose a dangerous amount of blood. Furthermore, the nearest hospital is too far away, leaving Pran with almost no time to save her. Because of this, he decides to perform an emergency blood transfusion himself.

Pran knowingly gives more blood than his body can handle. To him, saving Lhan matters more than his own survival. Moreover, the scene completely changes the meaning of their connection. Earlier in the film, House 89 viewed Lhan mainly as a blood source for Pran. In the end, however, Pran gives his own blood out of genuine love for her. Even as his condition worsens, he continues the transfusion to keep her alive.

At the same time, M stays behind to stop Chaba from reaching the vehicle. Although heavily wounded, he keeps fighting to protect both Pran and Lhan. In addition, the battle between M and Chaba becomes brutally personal as they stab each other repeatedly. Eventually, M manages to kill Chaba, finally ending the threat of the Mala gang. However, the injuries prove fatal, and M dies shortly after the fight.

My Dearest Assassin Ending Explained

My Dearest Assassin ends with themes of freedom, sacrifice, and survival. Throughout her life, people valued Lhan only because of her rare Aurum blood. At first, powerful figures wanted to use her blood to keep a wealthy man alive. Meanwhile, House 89 also viewed her as a safeguard for Pran’s future. Although Lhan found friendship and happiness within House 89, she still lived under constant fear because of her bloodline.

However, the ending finally allows Lhan to take control of her own destiny. The deaths of Pran, M, and the other members of House 89 highlight the painful cost of freedom. Their sacrifices give Lhan a chance to live without chains for the first time in her life.

Furthermore, the film later reveals that Lhan returns to Vietnam and raises her young son, who is strongly implied to be Pran’s child. In addition, her son also inherits the rare Aurum blood type. This detail suggests that danger still surrounds their family, even after the fall of the Mala gang.

My Dearest Assassin

Unlike the adults who controlled her childhood, Lhan chooses a different path for her son. Instead of trapping him in fear, she teaches him how to defend himself and live freely. Moreover, she gives him the kind of life she never had while growing up.

The mid-credits scene further strengthens this message. Lhan confronts the Hunter, the same man who murdered her parents and terrorized her for years. This time, however, she no longer runs away in fear. After training as an assassin, she faces him with confidence and kills him using his own knife. By doing so, Lhan finally ends the nightmare that began with her parents’ deaths.

In the end, the film shows how much Lhan has changed. She is no longer the helpless girl hunted by powerful people. Instead, she becomes someone capable of protecting both herself and her son, while still carrying the memories of Pran, M, and House 89 with her.
