UNTER STRØM debuts with “Orynth,” a dark electronic single blending techno, melodic house, and industrial sounds into a cinematic experience for rave fans.
Electronic duo UNTER STRØM officially enters the scene with their debut single, “Orynth,” released through Breathing Records.
The project brings together Alex Gonzales of Matte Blvck and John Kunkel, known for his work with The New Division and John Grand. Together, they fuse techno, melodic house, and industrial influences into a sound that feels cinematic, dark, and emotionally charged.
Their debut track, “Orynth,” introduces that vision clearly. Gonzales first created the foundation of the song, while Kunkel expanded it with layered atmospheres and intricate melodies. In addition, the pair shaped the single through a highly collaborative process that emphasized spontaneity and creative chemistry.
The duo wrote the track during an especially productive period that produced a large collection of material in a short time. Furthermore, producer Aaron Short, known for working with Madison Beer and The Naked and Famous, mixed the single and added a polished finish to its immersive sound.
Based between Los Angeles and San Diego, UNTER STRØM combines raw industrial textures with melodic electronic production. Moreover, both artists bring years of experience from the alternative and electronic music scenes. Gonzales built a growing international following through relentless touring and sold-out shows with Matte Blvck. Meanwhile, Kunkel earned recognition through his John Grand project, gaining support from Armin van Buuren and appearances on “A State of Trance” and “Group Therapy Radio.”
After years of collaborating in studios and various music projects, Gonzales and Kunkel launched UNTER STRØM to explore new creative territory. As a result, the duo developed a sound that balances heavy underground energy with expansive melodic detail. Their music shifts between tension and release, blending dark intensity with moments of euphoria.
