Raphaela explores nostalgia, love, and uncertainty in “Take It Back,” a cinematic pop single about cherishing the past while learning to let go.
Lebanese-Canadian artist Raphaela explores the complicated emotions of looking back on love in her new pop single, “Take It Back.” Blending nostalgic melodies with an uplifting sound, the track reflects on a relationship that once felt effortless but has since changed.

Raphaela developed the song during a Nashville writing session with Jordan Lake. When Lake asked what she wanted to write about, she spotted an old Dolly Parton vinyl titled I Wish I Felt This Way at Home. The phrase sparked a question: What happens when someone who once felt like home no longer does?
Although the title suggests a desire to restore a relationship, the song takes a different direction. Raphaela reflects on the early days of love, when everything felt fresh and full of possibility. Moreover, she considers how people can cherish those memories while accepting that a relationship may have run its course.
One lyric captures this conflict: “Would it be all for nothing if I leave you now?” Raphaela connects the question to more than romance. It also applies to friendships, careers, and other experiences that demand significant emotional investment. She emphasizes that leaving something behind does not erase the meaning it once held.
Capturing the Push and Pull of Emotion
Months after the initial writing session, Raphaela worked with Josh Bogert to reshape and produce the track. They built a cinematic pop arrangement that reflects the song’s emotional progression. The first verse revisits cherished memories, while the second introduces doubt. The chorus brings these opposing feelings together.
Furthermore, “Take It Back” opens a larger body of work that follows a journey through memory, doubt, grief, longing, relapse, and eventually hope. Rather than offering immediate closure, Raphaela begins the story at a moment of uncertainty.
With “Take It Back,” she explores the difficult space between wanting to hold on and knowing when to let go. The single sets the stage for the emotional chapters that follow, reminding listeners that meaningful experiences can remain valuable even after they end.
Listen to and stream Raphaela’s “Take It Back” now, and immerse yourself in its nostalgic melodies and heartfelt reflections on love and letting go.
