MY LIFE AS A MOTH

My Life As A Moth releases The Parade of the Starlet & the Broken Hearted, a haunting album that transforms pain, trauma, and resilience into immersive sound.

My Life As A Moth introduces her new album The Parade of the Starlet & the Broken Hearted, a haunting and immersive record shaped by post-punk, experimental rock, art pop, and industrial textures.

Born in Sweden and now based in East London, she began the project during lockdown. At that time, she felt lost and disconnected. One day, she sat at a dusty keyboard she had not touched in years. There, she found a dead moth between the keys. Struck by its fragile beauty, she wrote “My Life As A Moth.” That moment sparked not only a song, but an entire artistic identity.

This instinct to transform pain into art drives the album’s 12 tracks. She wrote the record during a period of intense personal change and therapy. Moreover, she draws from experiences of trauma, manipulation, coercive control, and gaslighting.

However, the album does not dwell in darkness alone. It also explores resilience, clarity, and survival. In addition, she filters her personal experiences through surrealism and symbolism. As a result, the songs feel intimate yet slightly otherworldly.

At its core, the album centers on the “starlet” and her “parade of the broken hearted.” These figures represent beauty, empathy, and integrity in a distorted world. Furthermore, the record thrives on contrast. She describes it as “the rose in the mud” and “the light in the dark.” The imagery reflects growth born from hardship. Although pain runs through the album, strength and mystery remain just as present.

She recorded the album with producers Ellie Mason and Keir Adamson in a back garden studio over nearly a year. The sessions spanned both heatwaves and cold spells. Consequently, the changing seasons shaped the album’s atmosphere.

Together, they built a distinct sonic world. They even created custom sounds using everyday objects such as radiators, shelves, and lentil bags. These elements add texture and unpredictability. As she explains, making music feels like untangling thoughts and reshaping them into something new.

My Life As A Moth has already built strong momentum. She sold out a show at Paper Dress Vintage and performed at venues like Oslo, The Boileroom, and SJQ. In addition, she earned support from BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Radio Wales, and Absolute Radio. Her work also landed on Spotify’s Melomania editorial playlist. With The Parade of the Starlet & the Broken Hearted, she pushes her vision further. She proves her ability to turn inner chaos into something striking and unflinching.
