muque shares a heartfelt message of self-acceptance with “Just As You Are,” their first drama theme song, written for Mana Ashida’s new series.
Sometimes, all you need is a reminder that being yourself is enough. Japanese three-piece band muque delivers that message with “いいんじゃない Just As You Are,” the theme song for Mana Ashida’s new drama, 南田南弁護士は天才肌 (Extraordinary Attorney Minami). The release also marks the band’s first time creating a theme song for a television drama.
The series follows Minami, a rookie lawyer with autism spectrum disorder who navigates social challenges and tackles difficult cases through her distinctive perspective. Inspired by her journey, muque’s new track explores the difficulties of finding your place in the world while building relationships with others. Its heartfelt lyrics offer reassurance to anyone struggling to fit in, echoing Minami’s search for a path of her own.
Musically, the song brings together the band’s experience experimenting with different styles. Through repeated exploration, muque has shaped these influences into a polished J-pop sound that balances accessibility with emotional sincerity.
Artwork Continues a Playful Story
Illustrator HIZGI returns to create the artwork for “いいんじゃない Just As You Are,” following their work on muque’s previous release, “たりない Still Not Enough.” The new cover features the same blue-haired girl, now wearing a puppet shaped like a father cat on her hand. The illustration incorporates elements inspired by the drama while continuing the character’s story and preserving the band’s playful visual identity.
Meanwhile, muque is preparing to celebrate its fifth anniversary with “SAVE POINT,” scheduled for Friday, February 5, 2027, at KT Zepp Yokohama in Kanagawa, Japan.
With “いいんじゃない Just As You Are,” muque offers a timely reminder that finding your place does not require changing who you are. Instead, the song encourages listeners to embrace themselves and move forward at their own pace.
Stream muque’s “Just As You Are” and embrace its uplifting message about staying true to yourself and finding your place in the world!
