Miss the Heart turns betrayal into empowerment with “Know Me Better,” an explosive pop-rock anthem about reclaiming power and finding your voice.

Victoria, BC alternative pop-rock duo Miss the Heart channel betrayal and anger into empowerment with their explosive new single “Know Me Better.” The track arrives ahead of the duo’s forthcoming debut EP and combines infectious pop melodies with hard-hitting alternative rock.

“Know Me Better” turns the experience of being underestimated into a declaration of self-worth. Soaring vocals lead the song before heavy guitar breakdowns push its intensity higher. As a result, Miss the Heart creates an anthem for anyone who has taken their power back from a manipulative person.

The single has already gained strong early momentum. The Zone @91-3 named Miss the Heart its Band of the Month for July 2026. The track has also received airplay from campus and community radio stations across Canada. Furthermore, it landed on the Mediabase Alternative Rock Most Added chart.

The duo will bring the song to the stage for their debut live performance at Vancouver’s Ventura Room on August 28, 2026.

From Betrayal to Self-Reclamation

At first, “Know Me Better” may sound like a song about the aftermath of a difficult relationship. However, its message extends far beyond romance. Vocalist Kiarra O’Connor drew inspiration from different narcissistic personalities she encountered throughout her life.

Those experiences included former partners, toxic friends, manipulative coworkers, and difficult creative collaborators. Together, they shaped the song’s emotional journey from trust and betrayal to realization and self-reclamation.

O’Connor describes the track as a reflection of being naive, getting taken advantage of, recognizing what happened, and learning how to move forward. She also drew on the hurt and anger those experiences created. Instead of allowing those emotions to consume her, she turned them into creative fuel.

The song follows that same transformation. Its soaring pop melody gives way to crushing guitar riffs, allowing vulnerability and defiance to exist side by side. Moreover, its explosive chorus encourages listeners to sing, shout, and scream along.

Miss the Heart once again worked with acclaimed producer, mixer, and co-writer Ryan Worsley, known for his work with Dear Rouge, MONOWHALES, and Fake Shark. The team recorded the track at Echoplant Studios in Vancouver.

Worsley helped refine the duo’s original demos while performing guitar and bass on the recording. The sessions also produced a memorable gang-vocal moment. O’Connor joined Worsley, drummer Michael Voytash, and an intern around a single microphone to record the song’s climactic refrain.

A Preview of the Debut EP

“Know Me Better” offers a glimpse into the duo’s upcoming debut EP, which they plan to release in early 2027. The project explores different stages of conflict through the lens of feminine rage.

The new single represents a pivotal moment within that narrative. It captures the point where hesitation gives way to action and silence gives way to speaking up.

With “Know Me Better,” Miss the Heart transforms painful experiences into something louder and more liberating. The duo refuse to stay defined by betrayal. Instead, they turn it into a reason to reclaim their voice.
