Donna Lewis marks 30 years of “I Love You Always Forever” with a new live video and announces her reimagined album In a Minute Now.
Donna Lewis celebrates 30 years of her global hit “I Love You Always Forever” with a newly filmed live performance. She recorded the session at Bearsville Theater. At the same time, she announces her upcoming live album, Now In a Minute.
“I Love You Always Forever” became a worldwide success after its 1996 release. Over the years, it has remained relevant across generations. Moreover, artists such as Japanese Breakfast and Betty Who have covered the track. In addition, Romy and Fred Again offered a modern reinterpretation.
Lewis revisits the song from her debut album Now in a Minute. This time, she reshapes it into an intimate and cinematic performance. She uses layered harmonies, soft vocals, and slow-building synths. As a result, the track feels both familiar and new. Meanwhile, the lighting—washed in violet, blue, and green—adds a moody atmosphere. Instead of leaning on nostalgia, the performance creates a fresh emotional tone.
The visual presentation enhances the experience. The camera drifts through the space with fluid motion. It captures close-ups and overlays that echo the song’s evolution. Consequently, the video transforms a ’90s radio staple into something more immersive and contemporary.
Lewis performs with a tight group of musicians. She reunites with original collaborators Gerry Leonard on guitar and Harvey Jones on keyboards. Furthermore, Gail Ann Dorsey adds bass and backing vocals, while Doug Yowell handles drums. Together, they expand the song’s sound with textured electronics and expressive instrumentation.
This release begins a larger project. Lewis plans a series of live recordings from Bearsville Theater. Each session captures Now in a Minute performed in full. These recordings will lead into In a Minute Now, a reimagined album that revisits her early work through a modern lens.
Originally released in 1996, “I Love You Always Forever” defined an era. Today, it continues to connect with listeners worldwide. This new version proves the song still evolves while holding onto its emotional core.
