GRAMMY Award-winning artist Anderson .Paak and GRAMMY-nominated rapper Cordae reunite with their new single “A Good Day.” The feel-good track serves as the first preview of their upcoming collaborative album, Heavy Is the Crown, arriving October 23 via APESHIT + EMPIRE / Hi Level + Mass Appeal.
The duo brings playful chemistry to the soul-infused track. .Paak taps into his charismatic rap style while Cordae delivers his signature smooth flow. Together, they trade witty bars over live drum grooves and upbeat production.
The song also draws inspiration from classic feel-good music. It nods to Bill Withers’ “Lovely Day” and incorporates the energetic spirit of Fatman Scoop’s iconic ad-libs. As a result, the track blends nostalgia with a fresh, carefree sound.
A Nostalgic Visual Inspired by Friday
The accompanying music video extends the song’s playful energy. Jennifer Freeman stars alongside .Paak and Cordae in a visual inspired by the cult classic film Friday.
The two artists portray brothers competing over the same love interest. Their rivalry adds humor to the story while keeping the camaraderie that defines their partnership at the center.
The release also marks a new chapter in their collaborative run. The pair previously joined forces on “RNP,” which has surpassed 260 million Spotify streams, and “Two Tens,” which has earned more than 75 million streams on the platform.
Heavy Is the Crown Arrives in October
With Heavy Is the Crown, .Paak and Cordae expand their shared sound. Their music combines West Coast funk, neo-soul, live instrumentation, and lyrical hip-hop. Moreover, .Paak’s live musicianship and soulful vocals complement Cordae’s storytelling and sharp lyricism.
