AMOS & RIOT NIGHT joins Grant Trowbridge and Lucy Starr on “Pieces,” an uplifting Trance anthem about healing after grief and heartbreak.
AMOS & RIOT NIGHT returns with the deeply personal single “Pieces,” transforming grief, heartbreak, and resilience into an uplifting Trance anthem. The Liverpool-based project of producer and DJ David McClelland teams up with rising Trance producer Grant Trowbridge and singer-songwriter Lucy Starr for a release that balances emotional storytelling with soaring electronic production.
Known for his melodic style and energetic sound, David has become a respected name in the global Trance scene. Over the years, he has released music on leading labels such as Future Sound of Egypt, Armada, Pure Trance, and Vandit. In addition, artists including Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Aly & Fila, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Sean Tyas, and Tiësto have supported his work.

“Pieces” draws inspiration from one of the most challenging periods of David’s life. Following the passing of his grandmother, he also experienced the sudden end of a relationship. Together, those events left him emotionally overwhelmed and searching for a way to heal. As a result, music became the outlet that helped him process his emotions.
“The first lyric I came up with was ‘I’m picking up the pieces,’” David recalls. That single line eventually became the emotional heart of the song. Together with Lucy Starr, he developed the lyrics before inviting Grant Trowbridge to help shape the final production.
Finding Strength Through Music
The trio created a track that pairs emotional vulnerability with the uplifting energy of Trance. Moreover, David and Grant drew inspiration from the darker sound of early Simon Patterson releases while incorporating melodic synth textures inspired by the iconic Roland JP8000. The result balances powerful basslines with moments of reflection and hope.
Released through Future Sound of Egypt, “Pieces” also marks Grant Trowbridge’s debut on the label, while David and Lucy return following previous releases with the imprint. Furthermore, the collaboration highlights the strengths of three artists from different creative backgrounds.
Grant continues to establish himself as one of the United Kingdom’s rising Trance producers, while Lucy Starr has expanded her career from indie music into the Trance scene. Meanwhile, AMOS & RIOT NIGHT continues to build on an impressive career that includes five Beatport Trance Top 10 releases and performances at major festivals worldwide.
With “Pieces,” the trio delivers an inspiring anthem that reminds listeners healing happens one step—and one piece—at a time.
