Los Angeles-based artist CASANDRA returns with her new single “HOURGLASS,” following the release of her acclaimed six-track EP ISLA TRANQUILITA. The track previews her upcoming album of the same name, arriving July 24. The expanded 13-track project continues the story and emotional world she first created through the EP.
The title ISLA TRANQUILITA, which translates to “little island of peace,” reflects a deeply personal connection to CASANDRA’s late great-aunt Teresa. A Cuban émigré who played an important role in her childhood, Teresa offered comfort during difficult moments with the gentle reminder “tranquilita.” Years later, CASANDRA transforms that message into music, creating a sonic refuge that celebrates her aunt’s memory while giving listeners a place to find peace.
A Dreamlike World Built on Heritage and Healing
Through ISLA TRANQUILITA, CASANDRA blends alt-pop, R&B, and electronic influences to create an immersive musical landscape. She combines vibrant production with intimate storytelling, exploring themes of joy, longing, grief, and healing. Written in both English and Spanish, the project draws from her Cuban heritage and reflects her ability to turn personal experiences into universal emotions.
