Scarlett Macfarlane turns inward on her latest single “Sorry,” a raw pop-rock release shaped by regret, reflection, and the long road toward forgiveness.

Scarlett Macfarlane releases her new single “Sorry,” arriving as an emotionally charged pop-rock confession that explores regret, accountability, and the fragile process of self-forgiveness.

Specifically, the track moves between quiet introspection and cathartic release, capturing the intensity of late-night thoughts and the clarity that can follow emotional chaos. It is both vulnerable and empowering, unfolding like a conversation with the self that refuses to stay buried.

Scarlett shares:

I wrote the song based on a bad night’s sleep due to some negative inner voices and an overactive mind. I wanted to be vulnerable about my inner demons and hope that anyone who heard it could feel seen, feel safe to recognize that we all make mistakes, big and small, and join me in the journey of self-acceptance.

Originally titled “Regret,” the track evolved into a more direct statement. “It was always an apology: to others, to the world, to myself.”

Particularly, that emotional honesty is embedded in every layer of the song. “Sorry” builds from a restrained opening into a soaring, full-bodied chorus that mirrors its emotional arc. The tension between softness and strength gives the track its dual nature, confronting discomfort while embracing growth.

Scarlett also reveals that the recording process carried its own weight. She says:

I wrote the first draft of this song in my car crying outside my gym. Recording it was liberating. Making the voices I heard in my head exist in real life was profound.

Moreover, subtle whispers and layered vocals in the intro preserve that intimacy, turning private thoughts into part of the song’s texture.

Sonically, “Sorry” blends alt-pop sensitivity with pop-rock intensity, culminating in a final chorus that feels like release. “Belting out that last chorus really is like therapy every single time,” she adds.

Beyond this single, Scarlett’s artistry reflects a broader reinvention. After years performing in different eras and identities, she now focuses on authenticity. Produced by Grammy-winning producer Scott Jacoby, her upcoming body of work reflects a refined creative direction shaped by resilience, self-acceptance, and emotional clarity.

With “Sorry,” Scarlett Macfarlane steps into a voice that is fully her own, unfiltered and grounded in truth.
