Macfarlane wanted the track to sound different from her previous work. She drew inspiration from Johnny Cash’s rebellious spirit and Lana Del Rey’s cinematic atmosphere. Together with Grammy-winning producer Scott Jacoby, she introduced Americana textures while keeping the song rooted in pop-rock.
Guitarist and bassist Eli Menenez adds another layer to the track. His Southwestern-inspired guitar work gives the production a dusty, atmospheric edge. The sound becomes especially striking during the soaring final chorus.
