Ryokuoushoku Shakai return with Atamago, a 12-track album that showcases their evolving sound, collaborative songwriting, and growing international presence.
Japanese four-piece Ryokuoushoku Shakai return with their sixth original album, Atamago. The release marks their first full-length project since 2025’s Channel U. Across 12 tracks, the band explores the thoughts, emotions, and ideas that shape their music.
The title Atamago reflects the group’s creative philosophy. It represents music born from their own minds and feelings. Once created, those ideas take on a life of their own.
Four Members, One Expansive Sound
Ryokuoushoku Shakai continue their collaborative songwriting approach on Atamago. All four members contribute to the writing process. As a result, the album moves across a wide range of sounds and styles.
The record includes six previously released songs and six new tracks. It also features music created for major tie-in projects. Among them, “Riding the wind” served as the theme song for the theatrical anime L’étoile de Paris en fleur. The band released the track in March this year.
Art director Motoko Marui shaped the album’s visual identity. The cover centers on an illustration that reflects the raw emotions and impulses behind Atamago.
From Japan to the World
The album arrives one year after another major step in the band’s international growth. Ryokuoushoku Shakai expanded their global reach through their successful 2025 Asia tour, which visited Seoul, Taipei, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Jakarta, and Singapore.
Formed in 2012, the group consists of Nagaya on vocals, Kobayashi on guitar, peppe on keyboard, and Anami on bass. Their catalog includes major hits such as “Mela!” with more than 400 million streams, “Be a flower” with over 200 million, and “Character” and “Summer Time Cinderella,” which have each surpassed 100 million streams.
The band has also performed at Tokyo’s Nippon Budokan, completed arena tours, and appeared on NHK’s Kohaku Uta Gassen for three consecutive years from 2022 to 2024. In 2023, they won the Excellent Work Award at the 65th Japan Record Awards for “Summer Time Cinderella.”
With Atamago, Ryokuoushoku Shakai continue to showcase their distinct pop-rock sound and bring their music to an increasingly international audience.
