Jayda’s “Guni-Guni” is an anthem of the sweetest yearning, signaling the start of a new soft girl era for the up and coming pop singer.
What’s a girl to do when she yearns? For Jayda, there’s nothing as effective as putting her feelings into a song. At a listening party in Ortigas, a handful of fans got to hear her version of this all too familiar emotion with her new single, “Guni-Guni.”

Party with the Besties
Two days before the single’s official release, Jayda held an intimate listening party with her fans, lovingly dubbed “Besties Night.” Those in attendance had all gone to at least two of the three stops in her “After The Sun Sets” cafe tour. The group had a fun night of games, snacks, and photos, all leading up to the reveal of the official studio recording of “Guni-Guni.”

Written in December 2025, “Guni-Guni” encapsulates the unique yet universal feeling of yearning. Jayda describes the feeling of waiting for a specific kind of love to arrive, but not finding the courage to say how you feel when it comes. During the Q&A session that followed, the singer also teased a possible music video to accompany the single.
A moment with Jayda
Of the recording process, Jayda shares that she loved working with Brian Lotho, producer of IV of Spades, who helped bring her vision to life. Unlike her previous songs, where different vocal tracks were recorded separately, “Guni-Guni” was recorded in one day. Jayda says that she wanted to get into a specific emotional space to convey the mood of the song – confessional, intimate, and soft – a feat that she pulls off perfectly.

She looks forward to seeing how “Guni-Guni” will impact her listeners and become part of their lives, mentioning how she was moved by her fans already singing along during the listening party. Jayda strongly believes that her songs are meant to be experienced live, and hopes for more chances to connect with her fans through her live gigs.
Additionally, she also mentions her passion for acting and wants to keep doing both, moving forward in her career. “I’ve always expressed [that] ayoko ‘yung isa sa dalawang ‘yun mawawala because they’re both important to me,” she says.

With its tender Tagalog lyrics and vocals laced with the beautiful, bittersweet sting of a love that hurts so good, “Guni-Guni” succeeds in showing off a new side of Jayda. The singer calls herself “ever-evolving” and “unapologetically pop,” enjoying how the genre allows her to keep exploring new subgenres while still staying true to her core. She welcomes this new era with excitement and optimism, and is glad to have her Besties along for the ride.
“Guni-Guni” is available to stream on all music platforms starting July 17.
