Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Episode 7: “The Hateful Darkness”
After participating in the protest at city hall, Karen Page is caught by the anti-vigilante task force. Wilson Fisk takes this as an advantage and plans to use the “legal” way to finally get rid of her. Additionally, Matt must find a way to get Karen out without being Daredevil. As he knows, Fisk is anticipating this move. Jessica Jones pays Mr. Charles a visit to learn about his partnership with Fisk.

Meanwhile, BB and Daniel are struggling to come up with new strategies to evade Buck Cashman. Will they succeed?
Karen in custody
Karen is at the 15th precinct. She receives a surprising visitor: Wilson Fisk. He asks Karen if helping Matt through all of this is worth it in the name of love. To which Fisk reacts in disgust. Moreover, Karen answers back. She senses fear in him, to which he chokes her, stating that this is “order.”
Detective Brett Mahoney, yes, he is also back; he lets Karen out for a bit. As Matt waits for her outside, they reunite and talk. Furthermore, both agree that they cannot let her out right now and must use the trial, the “legal” way to do the job safely. Mahoney informs them that time is up, as they part ways with a plan ready.

As the trial commences, she is represented by Kirsten McDuffie. Cameras are everywhere, many including Fisk are watching. Additionally, he comments if she is aware that she is “the wounded soldier.” Fisk thinks that Karen is like a martyr-type figure for all the resistance groups against him.
Kirsten informs the court that she has a co-counsel. As Matt Murdock, all lawyer-ed up, enters the room. Fisk’s declaration of him as “missing” marks this as his first public appearance. Now, he comes back to the defense of Karen. The co-counsels put Officers Powell and Cole North on the stand. Furthermore, they question the credibility of the task force as a whole.

The trial adjourns for another day. Back at the precinct, Dr. Heather Glenn pays a visit to Karen. The two have a back and forth; it ends with Heather slapping Karen multiple times. It appears that Karen has triggered a response in Heather that prompts her to act in this manner. Lastly, can we agree that Karen is a certified ragebaiter this whole episode?
Jessica Jones visits Mr. Charles
Meanwhile, Jessica interrogates Mr. Charles. She warns him about the ambush at her house, which he planned. But, as Jessica gets angrier, Charles stops her with this piece of information. Additionally, he is the only connection between her and Luke Cage. Yes, you read that right. Luke Cage is also back in the MCU. This further confirms that these characters from the past are now considered canon. Charles says Luke is working for him, and that’s all we know about Power Man.
“Part of me needs to forgive you”
Back at the hideout, Daredevil sets Bullseye free. He assures Bullseye that setting him free will not change anything. Moreover, his hatred for the deaths of Foggy, Father Lantom, and Agent Ray Nadeem will always remain. He is determined to kill him for that. But the Catholic in him remains, as somehow, someway, he must forgive him. That is why he sets him free; whatever Bullseye will do, it is up to him now.
At Governor McCaffrey’s house, she intends to take Fisk out of office. While browsing for documents, a masked assassin wraps a wire around her neck and chokes her. But, just in time, Bullseye saves her from the assassin and lets the governor know what he did. “One good deed” done for Bullseye.
BB/Daniel – Making it count
We go back to BB Urich and Daniel Blake. As they still deal with their Buck Cashman dilemma, they are still trying to figure that out. Daniel is having conflicting feelings about giving BB away to Buck or protecting her. Understandably, Daniel is frustrated at BB for using him as a source of information. As we all know, BB is the parody of Wilson Fisk on the “City Without Fear” show. BB answers back to Daniel, saying he has turned a blind eye on Fisk’s questionable tactics. In favor of a high-paying job and a rich apartment.
Both arrive at a “safe house” location Daniel told BB. She realizes that it is a ruse and fights Daniel off. Additionally, she questions Daniel if this person is who he really wants to be, a pawn for Fisk. Once again feeling conflicted, Daniel ultimately decides to choose BB. He tells her to go hide where Buck will not look for her.
Daniel confronts Buck and informs him BB is not coming. Hesitant, Buck asks Daniel if the decision is his choice, to which Daniel assures him, yes. Additionally, he reiterates to Buck what BB told him earlier. Buck brutally assaults Daniel in order to extract the information from him. Lastly, he puts a bullet to Daniel’s head and leaves in self-disgust.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Episode 7 thoughts
Goodbye, Daniel Blake; you will be missed. Michael Gandolfini’s performance is top-notch this season. Moreover, from being a cocky assistant of Fisk to making the bold decision to sacrifice himself for BB, he definitely has come a long way. Additionally, Deborah Ann Woll delivers another stellar performance as Karen Page. Her acting of pissing off Wilson Fisk and Heather Glenn shows that you want to root for her. The mention of Luke Cage adds another point of interest to the show.
Furthermore, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Episode 7 is a setup for the finale last week, and we cannot wait to see how they stick the landing.
