Hawaii-born artist Tegan, who calls herself “one year old” in Japan, follows her solo debut with a dreamy pop daydream and a music video full of curious creatures.
Tegan is still finding her feet in a new chapter of her life, but her imagination has no such limits. The Hawaii-born artist, who playfully calls herself “one year old” in Japan after moving there about a year ago, returns with “Daydream,” her second digital single.

The track blends nostalgic pop with a hazy, dreamlike atmosphere, wandering through romantic thoughts and imagined futures. Light beats and a memorable melody meet Tegan’s warm, husky vocals, making a song that suits a quiet moment of reflection as easily as a spontaneous urge to move.
“Daydream” follows Tegan’s solo debut “I choose me,” which was released in July and carried a message of self-love and staying true to yourself rather than meeting other people’s expectations.
If that song was about choosing yourself, this one explores what comes next: imagining time with someone special, picturing the person you hope to become, and letting yourself dream about the possibilities ahead. The lyrics leave room for listeners to bring their own experiences and hopes, capturing the sweetness of getting lost in your thoughts while holding on to the wish to make those dreams real.

The music video adds a visual layer. In it, time moves slowly, dream and reality overlap, and a cast of cute but slightly surreal creatures roams a world between fantasy and waking life. It continues the playful style introduced in “I choose me” and gives Tegan’s growing creative universe its own characters and unexpected details.
Born in Hawaii and now building a life in Japan, Tegan makes music that sounds like a slow afternoon with the windows open. Her story began in 2015 as half of the ukulele duo Tegan & Kaylen, and by 2018 she had become FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL’s youngest-ever artist at the time.
After returning to music in 2024 through CHUANG ASIA in Thailand, Tegan appeared at SAPPORO COLLECTION in 2026 ahead of her Japan solo debut on avex.

Her sound combines island ease with the glow of 80s-tinged city pop. A low, husky voice rests beneath a soft presence, and her songs about self-love and inner growth are made for tired, hardworking twenty-somethings who don’t need another push, just a place to breathe.
Tegan’s “Daydream” is available to listen on all music streaming platforms.
