Jess Yaffa enters a new creative era with “Spill My Guts,” the first single from her upcoming EP, FALSE SPRING, featuring a candid new video.
New York City-based alternative-pop artist Jess Yaffa kicks off a new musical era with “Spill My Guts.” The track serves as the first single from her upcoming EP, FALSE SPRING, which is set to arrive later this year. Released on September 18, the song also comes with an official music video that introduces listeners to Yaffa’s latest creative chapter.
“Spill My Guts” combines an energetic, driving rhythm with deeply personal songwriting. Yaffa turns the track into an honest and liberating release as she captures the feeling of finally expressing everything left unsaid. Yaffa shares:
I wanted it to feel like the song just swells up and warms the heart to the point where you feel like you are word vomiting.
The accompanying video brings that sense of openness to life through a playful and romantic storyline. Yaffa worked with a friend to film the visual, following her concept of collecting flowers across the city until she creates one large bouquet.
“It’s lighthearted, a little romantic, and hopeful,” Yaffa says. She also adds that she particularly enjoyed editing the video and developing its storyline.
Yaffa Takes Creative Control
“Spill My Guts” holds a special place in Yaffa’s upcoming project. It became the first song she made after choosing to take full control of her music’s production. Moreover, the track helped shape the creative direction of FALSE SPRING, which will become her first entirely self-written and self-produced body of work.
Yaffa continues to explore alternative-pop without limiting herself to a specific sound. Instead, she allows each song to develop according to the story it needs to tell.
The upcoming EP follows her 2025 debut album, Thoughts That Keep Me Up at Night, which she created with Grammy-winning producer Scott Jacoby, known for his work with Coldplay, John Legend, and Vampire Weekend.
This time, Yaffa has expanded her role beyond writing and performing. She now takes part in every stage of the production process, working alongside audio engineer Leah Dunn to complete the recordings. “Spill My Guts” marks the beginning of that collaboration.
In addition, the partnership reflects Yaffa’s desire to collaborate with and support other women working in the music industry.
Stream “Spill My Guts” now and experience Jess Yaffa’s latest chapter through its heartfelt lyrics, upbeat sound, and hopeful energy.
