Los Angeles-based pop-R&B artist Olivia Prado continues to build anticipation for her upcoming EP, Dirty In The Sand, with the release of her latest single, “Up n Down.”
Set to arrive on August 26, the EP marks Prado’s next chapter following her 2024 debut album, Liv Laugh Love. Meanwhile, the new track delivers a warm, groove-driven sound that reflects her confident and feminine style.
Prado says the song came together naturally through movement and dance.
This song was inspired by movement, dance, and groove. I actually wrote it while dancing around my apartment. I wanted to create something that makes you feel confident and empowered without trying too hard. To me, it feels cool, stylish, and unapologetically feminine.
Originally from California’s Bay Area, Prado now calls Los Angeles home. She blends the nostalgic feel of early-2000s pop with the smooth rhythms of contemporary R&B. As a result, her music balances familiarity with a fresh, modern identity.
Furthermore, she draws inspiration from legendary artists such as Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Rihanna, and Britney Spears, while also embracing the influence of contemporary acts like Erika de Casier and Oklou.
Olivia Embraces Confidence Through Music
Prado’s passion for performing began at an early age. She started singing, dancing, and acting in musical theater when she was just five years old. By the age of ten, she had already begun writing her own songs.
Moreover, a year studying abroad in Sydney during college, along with the passing of her father, reshaped her perspective. Those life experiences motivated her to fully pursue the music career she had always envisioned.
For the past seven years, Prado has independently managed every aspect of her artistry. In addition to writing her music, she oversees creative direction, release strategy, marketing, and visual concepts.
Dirty In The Sand arrives on August 26 and follows her debut album, Liv Laugh Love. The EP includes the previously released single “Temptation” alongside “Up n Down.” Together, the songs explore love, intimacy, personal growth, and self-discovery through Prado’s signature blend of pop and R&B.
