From Idol to Producer: Get to Know EL CAPITXN
EL CAPITXN, also known as Jang Yi-jeong, made his debut in 2013 with the K-pop group HISTORY. Alongside performing with his members, he showcased his talent as a soloist through OSTs and collabs, including a duet with IU.
Following his idol years, he began working behind the scenes as a producer under the pseudonym J.PEARL (now EL CAPITXN). Later, he founded his own production team, VENDORS, and eventually signed with HYBE.
His steady dedication to crafting music led him to produce tracks for well-known artists, such as BTS, TXT, PLAVE, ZEROBASEONE, Sunmi, Psy, and Baekhyun. He also worked closely with BTS’ SUGA for the rapper’s solo album and first world tour as the DJ and sound mixer.
In 2024, he became one of the mentors for Team Beat on the survival show, Universe League, with GOT7’s Yugyeom. Now, he’s teaming up with AHOF — the group created through the show — as their executive producer.
Through the years, EL CAPITXN has continued to show that he’s not afraid to venture down new paths. From being a passionate idol to one of K-pop’s biggest producers, he proves his versatility as an artist in every area he pursues.
