Explore the world of Indie music as new rising Filipino artists perform for Earth Hour.

To celebrate Earth Hour, Turn Up the Dark Live at the Shang occurred on March 23, 2024, Saturday at 6:30 PM. In collaboration with Shangri-La Plaza and Viva Records, an unforgettable evening unfolded, featuring mesmerizing performances by rising Filipino artists.

Amidst dimmed lights, attendees enjoyed soulful melodies by talented musicians. These include Minimal Days, Carlo, Marielle Belleza, Michael Keith, and Amiel Sol.


As we came together to observe Earth Hour, we immersed ourselves in the magic of music. Simultaneously, we raised awareness about the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability.

Turn Up the Dark Lineup

Turn Up the Dark - Minimal Days

To commence the event, Minimal Days took the stage to perform his single “11,100km.” Through the song, he articulates a sense of longing for a distant significant other. Additionally, it conveys the sentiment of holding onto the promise of reunion despite the physical distance.


Turn Up the Dark - Michael Keith

After an emotional performance, the atmosphere shifts as Michael Keith takes the stage to serenade the crowd with his rendition of “Best Part” (feat. H.E.R.) by Daniel Caesar. His calming voice fills the space, captivating the audience with its soothing melody.


Following this, he transitions seamlessly into his original song “Ayayayay,” sharing with the audience that it is a personal breakup song inspired by his experiences with his ex-girlfriend. The sincerity in his delivery resonates with the listeners, drawing them into the heartfelt narrative of love and loss.

Turn Up the Dark - Carlo

Shifting from heartbreak to love, Carlo mends the hearts of the crowd as he begins his performance with a soulful adaptation of “Panalangin by Apo Hiking Society. He mentions that it’s his mom’s favorite song. Afterward, he asks the audience for a song request, which he enthusiastically performs.


To end his performance, he showcases “Tahan Na”, a song about choosing yourself and knowing what to keep and forget.

Turn Up the Dark - Marielle Belleza

Empowering the stage with her beauty and talent, Marielle Belleza enchants everyone with her version of ‘”Closer I Get To You” by Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack. She also performs covers like “Wag na ‘wag” by Kitchie Nadal and “Habang Buhay” by Sarah Geronimo, for which she wrote the lyrics.


The day wouldn’t be complete without her also singing her song “Baka Naman,”  which soothes your ears and fills you with warmth.

Turn Up the Dark - Amiel Sol

Amiel captures everyone’s attention as soon as he starts strumming his guitar. The crowd went wild as he started his performance with his own song, “You Make It Right.” Making you feel butterflies as you sway to the music and feel emotional.

He also sang “Ikaw Lang Patutunguhan” with the lyrics “Kay palad na ikaw ang kapiling ko sa ilalim ng buwan at kay saya na ikaw ang katabi ko sa pagsikat ng araw.” This song is surely fitting to dedicate to your ‘The One.’


Final Takeover

Turn Up the Dark isn’t just an event dedicated to our beloved planet. It’s a testament to how music can unite us all and the importance of supporting one another.

Just as we unite for our environment’s future, let’s also uplift our society’s culture and talents. Let’s not only save Mother Earth but also preserve the essence of Filipino music in our hearts.
