In an interview with Billboard, Conan discusses his third and most recent album, Found Heaven. Also, Conan Gray described the experience of collaborating with well-known producers like Shawn Everett, Greg Kurstin, ILYA, and Max Martin.

A year and a half ago, during his Superache tour, he started the process of this album. “Found Heaven” is the first song that Conan Gray wrote.

In addition, He shares that he created this album in process of falling in love for a very first time. Conan used to write songs using his imagination, so he said, “It’s weird” in response to the question about how it feels to write a song based on your own feelings. He also stated, “It makes writing songs a little easier coz then you’re not writing about a made-up thing.”

Conan was greatly helped by the album’s producers in discovering all of the different sides of himself. He also admits that they’re all encouraging and eager to try new things, including using different voices.

Conan Gray Found Heaven Tracklist

Found Heaven

It was this song that inspired the album’s title. This music is not a sad song, unlike what some people may believe. The song is about acceptance. This song is the perfect track to start this album, featuring Conan’s vocals and harmonies. The lyrics, “Don’t be scared, little child. You’re no demon. There’s a God in the sky” looks to be a reminder that you shouldn’t be afraid— all you need is love—you need one, and you need him.

Never Ending Song

You’ll be thrilled to hear everything this music has to offer. Conan using his lower register voice makes this song interesting and it’s giving a retro dance pop. This was the album’s first single, and it essentially gave us a brand-new genre of music that he doesn’t typically release. Written by Conan Gray, Ilya Salmanzadeh, and Max Martin.

Fainted Love

Conan expressed that he wanted to compose a song that perfectly captured the feeling of driving to visit someone who consistently mistreats you. Yet you keep going back to them because you know that you’d rather be with someone than by yourself.

It has a catchy beat and it’s very 80s. Also, a song about accepting love that isn’t as good as you deserve. The lines such as “You got it? We’re nothing,” and “Say you’ll love me for life, say you’ll never leave,” convey the sense that the person you’re spending time with isn’t interested in you. This is where you may hear Conan’s usual voice.

Lonely Dancers

Written by Oscar Holter, Max Martin, Ilya Salmanzadeh, and Conan Gray. This song has it all—vocals, production, artistic skill, dancing, etc. Also, “Lonely Dancers” is Conan’s fourth single on this album.

Alley Rose

Originally called “Abbey Road,” this is Conan’s very first love song. After getting dumped, Conan wrote this song, which he claimed was a devastating dating experience. He was flying to London to see the person that he was dating, but as soon as he landed, he was dumped over text messages. And that’s the conclusion of his first-ever breakup, which is also the reason why we have “Alley Rose” now.

These lyrics, “You wrapped your fingers around my neck. And pulled me into your desperate breath. The way you kissed me hot and fast. I knew it’d be the last”

Conan stated, “I think in every relationship, you have this moment. It’s so hard to explain, you don’t know why but you just know deep in your heart that for whatever reason it’s the end. I remember this moment so clearly I could just feel something in the air. And I called my best friend the next morning and I was like I just have this feeling that was the last time. I’m ever going to see that person and she was like no what are you talking it’s fine and like you’re just being paranoid and then I got dumped.”

Also, he mentioned how close they were and that his greatest fear in their relationship, as life happens, their friendship might disappear. For him, losing a friend is the most devastating thing that can happen, which is why Conan included the verse “You told me I’m ‘just so nervous, dear’ well, how do you think I feel?” in the song.

The Final Fight

The Final Fight is the shortest of the 13 tracks, running in just 2 minutes and 10 seconds. This song seems to be about someone who needs something to make things right, yet all they really wanted was the final fight. And just Conan, his powerful, soulful voice effortlessly hitting the high notes.

Miss You

Conan says in this song, “I never meant to break your heart,” but he did it nevertheless after realizing it and pushing the other person away out of fear of attachment. The lyrics “Is it wrong to now decide?” appear to have a simple meaning, but they actually have a deeper meaning—he’s only protecting himself from possible outcomes. Eventually, though, he still misses you. This song was written by Conan Gray, Oscar Holter, and Max Martin.

Bourgeoisieses

The album’s weirdest track, “Bourgeoisieses”, derives its name from the plural form of the word bourgeoisie. Conan was very poor as a child and lived in several homes. And he has always believed that money has the power to significantly impact people’s lives. It’s a song that makes fun of the rich people, how foolish they can be, and how absurd the world is.

If you like 80s music, you will like this one; it’s ironically refreshing. Undoubtedly addictive after you hear it two or three more times.

Forever With Me

It’s a powerful ballad song that will perfectly capture your feelings of affection and loss. This song is kind of melancholy since it sounds like the OST of a romantic series about a couple who recently split up but still learn a lot from one another.

Looking back on a moment that came and has passed is the theme of “Forever With Me”. Conan learned everything from this person, including how to love and hate, and he stated, “I have all these emotions about you, I really hated you for a while. I feel really angry. But at the end of the day, you’ll forever be part of my life.” He shared his appreciation for the chance to learn so much, rather than his regret for what had happened. It’s a really intriguing emotion since ethically speaking, even after the breakup, there’s always be part of you that loved them.

Eye Of The Night

This tune could easily pass for the theme song of a stalker x stalker film. The lyrics, “I always feel like I am not alone. While I am walking down these empty roads” sound ominous, telling you that someone—the Eye Of The Night—is following you. It sounds like an eerie ballad, and the song gets better with the key change.

Boys & Girls

The song “Boys & Girls” tells about how awkward it might be to have a crush on someone attractive. It’s about a certain someone on whom everyone is crushing. The song’s lines, “There’s no point competing. He wants ya, she wants ya,” make you feel stupid that all know that he’s simply playing to everyone. It has a sound catchy and upbeat rhythm.

Killing Me

“Killing Me” instantly makes you want to dance and cry at the same time. You’ll feel connected to this song as soon as you grasp the meaning behind the lyrics. This track is his third single from the album.

Winner

The second track he dropped last year, “Winner,” is an intense ballad with an aching melody and agonizing lyrics. It was followed by “Never Ending Song.”

Giving us a roller coaster ride with this album; the lyrics, concept, and vibe is pure nostalgia. Even though this isn’t the same as his previous albums, the creativity the insightful lyrics are still there. Conan reviving the 80s sound is exactly what I never expected that I needed.

StarDrop (Teardrop and Star) meaning

He has a very timid and not-so-brave personality. So, the necklace for him is a reminder that he needs to take a risk and put himself out there.

“It’s a star inside of a teardrop because it’s like a reminder that all the things make you cry like the happiest and the saddest moments of your life. Like there’s magic in the fact you even got to experience it at all. I’ve spent so many years of my life hiding in my room and not doing anything and being so afraid of ever getting hurt or being so afraid of being rejected or feeling bad or doing something that hurt someone’s feelings that I ended up living no life.”

He also added, “So I kept this on my neck the whole time I was making the album as a reminder that I have to let myself live my life and that it’s a great thing to experience.”

It’s finally here, Coneheads! Let’s have a listen to Found Heaven, the most recent and third album of Conan Gray!
