YONAH returns with his emotive single “Holler,” previewing his debut album Bird of Miracles and showcasing his introspective indie-rock storytelling.
Indie-rock singer, songwriter, and producer YONAH returns with his evocative single “Holler.” It coincides with the announcement of his debut album Bird of Miracles, set for release on April 24. Following the momentum of previous singles like “Desert Horse” and “Showdown,” “Holler” offers a deeper look into the emotional vulnerability and introspective storytelling that define the forthcoming record.

The track carries YONAH’s soul-stirring vocals through a nostalgic and reflective soundscape. It traces memories of childhood, first love, and early encounters with depression and trauma.
It’s really a snapshot of my life. But more than anything, it’s about connection, and learning to honor the experiences that shaped who I am.
Produced alongside Harper James, known for his work with Hudson Freeman, Eighty Ninety, and Aaron Taos, Bird of Miracles emerges as his most personal project to date. The album draws its title from the Hebrew meaning of his birth name, Yonah Nissim, or “dove of miracles.” It reflects a dual focus on his late father and his own journey of identity. Across 11 tracks, he explores themes of growth, faith, rebellion, and reconciliation. It arrives at a space of acceptance and gratitude.

Crafting a Distinctive Voice
Born and raised on Manhattan’s Upper West Side and now based in Brooklyn, YONAH (Yonah Taragin) channels personal history into music that feels both intimate and expansive. Influenced by artists such as Elliott Smith, Adrianne Lenker, Courtney Barnett, and Beck, he fuses raw lyricism with experimental indie sensibilities. Through his earlier EPs The House of Damage (2025) and Love So Good (2023), he established a growing presence in New York’s live scene, performing at venues including Nublu, City Winery, and Pete’s Candy Store.
With Bird of Miracles, YONAH fully realizes his voice as a songwriter and storyteller. The album captures the messy, beautiful process of becoming, offering a profound glimpse into an artist coming into his own. By blending emotional honesty with sonic experimentation, the artist sets the stage for a new chapter in his career, signaling both personal and artistic growth that resonates far beyond his local scene.
