Time Spent Driving starts their silver anniversary celebration with “What It Should Be Like,” a previously unfinished track now brought to life after two decades.
Legendary rock band Time Spent Driving has officially released “What It Should Be Like,” in celebration of their 25th anniversary. It will also be offered as a bonus track on the deluxe vinyl and reissue of their debut album, Just Enough Bright, coming April 10 via Thirty Something Records. This will mark the first time the album has been distributed on vinyl.

Behind the Track: “What It Should Be Like”
I don’t know if you can feel this
But we don’t even need to be undressed
Your company is more than enough on its own
On its own
“What It Should Be Like” was roughly composed two decades ago, going back to the time the band first parted ways. While it remained unfinished for a long time, they ultimately returned to complete the track at the perfect moment. Now in their 25th year together, the members are back to commemorate their beloved history through this record.
According to frontman Jon Cattivera, it was originally drafted after witnessing a friend singing while bagging groceries. He described the moment as “refreshing,” being around a person who was “so in love with life.” When talking about the song’s message, he added, “It’s about what a positive, real connection should actually feel like, and I think long-time fans will appreciate where this one sits alongside the old material.”
They decided to record it in 2024 at Compound Recording with producer Olav Tabatabai, just in time for their 25th anniversary. It now stands as one of their representative tracks, significantly tying together their past and present.
Coming Soon: Just Enough Bright (2026 Remaster)
Just Enough Bright was the band’s debut album, first released in 2002. Since then, the record has become an unforgettable reflection of early-2000s indie-emo music.
To celebrate their anniversary, the album has undergone a few special tweaks, receiving its very own rebirth. With the help of original producer J. Robbins and Dan Coutant (Sun Room Audio), all of the tracks have been remixed and remastered for the latest release. Each song promises to preserve the original’s emotional depth while still offering something befitting today’s musical soundscape.
