TEMPEST Hwarang Leaves Group

Following a five-month hiatus, Hwarang officially leaves TEMPEST, YueHua Entertainment shared in an announcement.

Two years after debut, the agency of TEMPEST announces member Hwarang‘s departure from the boy group. YueHua shared the following statement on August 11:

Hello, this is Yuehua Entertainment.
We would like to address the future activities of TEMPEST and Hwarang.
We engaged in deep discussions with Hwarang regarding his future future activities and career. After careful consideration, we mutually agreed to conclude Hwarang’s activities as a member of TEMPEST and to terminate his exclusive contract.

We sincerely express our gratitude to all the fans who supported Hwarang until now. We ask for lots of support for the future activities of Hwarang who is preparing to embark on a new journey, and we will also sincerely support Hwarang in his future endeavors.
We will respond strongly against the circulation of false information and speculation about our artists. Furthermore, please show lots of interest and love for TEMPEST, who will be greeting fans through ‘Road to Kingdom’.




YueHua previously announced Hwarang’s hiatus from TEMPEST group activities in March 2024. The announcement is made following a separate statement regarding circulation of rumors about his private life.

As a TEMPEST member, Hwarang is known as the group’s main rapper and main dancer. Furthermore, he is credited as a writer and producer for at least 20 of the group’s songs.

The number of tracks he has worked on amounts to the majority of the group’s discography. Thus, his great contributions to the group remain even after Hwarang leaves TEMPEST.

TEMPEST debuted on August 2, 2022, with the EP It’s ME, It’s WE. The lead track, “Bad News,”  introduced the boys’ electronically led and upbeat approach to K-Pop. On April 10, 2024, they made their Japanese debut with “BANG!”.

With Hwarang’s departure, TEMPEST is promoting itself as a six-member group moving forward. The remaining members—LEW, Hanbin, Hyeongseop, Hyuk, Eunchan, and Taerae—are gearing up for their participation in the survival show, Road to Kingdom: ACE OF ACE.
