Some Days Are Darker explore the blurred line between desire and obsession with “Memorize You,” a dark, cinematic single from their upcoming album.
New York trio Some Days Are Darker explores the darker side of desire with its new single and music video, “Memorize You.” The band combines the grandeur of goth, the hypnotic drive of synth-led alternative rock, and the visual language of noir cinema.
“Memorize You” builds around a restless pulse and an increasingly intense atmosphere. The track begins with intimate confession before expanding into something darker and more overwhelming. As the music grows, so does the tension between attraction and fixation.
The song asks where passion ends and obsession begins. Its central refrain captures the feeling of knowing someone so deeply that admiration starts to blur with self-destructive intensity. Rather than offering a clear answer, Some Days Are Darker leaves that tension hanging in the air.
The trio began as a solo songwriting project for former metalcore guitarist Lear Mason. It has since grown into a three-piece with bassist, guitarist, and keyboardist Chris Martin, alongside drummer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Robbie Williamson. Together, the musicians bring decades of experience and a shared interest in the darker sides of human emotion.
Their sound moves between towering walls of instrumentation and quieter moments of vulnerability. Moreover, they avoid fitting neatly into one genre. Instead, they create music that places listeners inside stories of love, loss, lust, and renewal.
A New Era With Black Box Warning
“Memorize You” offers a preview of the band’s upcoming album, Black Box Warning. The 12-track record explores desire and its consequences through both expansive arrangements and stripped-back performances.

The band recorded the album with Dave Catching at Rancho de la Luna in Joshua Tree, California. The sessions produced some of their most intense material alongside a solo acoustic track and a closing piano ballad.
Since forming in 2019, Some Days Are Darker have released their self-titled debut, played shows with The Chameleons, Vision Video, and House of Harm, and toured across the US, Canada, and the West Coast.
With “Memorize You,” the trio continues to explore the uneasy space between longing and consequence. The result is a track that feels intimate, cinematic, and deliberately unsettling.
