Singaporean artist Shye released a bittersweet coming-of-age new single, “Without You.”
Singer-songwriter and producer, Shye, just dropped a new single titled “Without You.” The song is a melancholic coming-of-age about growing up and learning to let go. It’s hard to do, but sometimes it’s the best thing.
Shye shares, “Someone unexpectedly asked me, ‘Why didn’t it work? Would you go back and try again?’ I hadn’t thought about a past experience like that in a long time. My answer was no because I felt that everything that happened,” she added. “It happened for a reason, and I’m still happy with the decision I made.”
She stated that the song conveys a message of moving on from a relationship while maintaining an optimistic outlook. It balances the bittersweet act of leaving with a sense of anticipation for new beginnings and future possibilities. Embracing love for something despite past pain can be a powerful healing mechanism, allowing one to reclaim joy and overcome negative associations. Healing takes courage and time, but it’s essential for personal growth and self-love. Reclaiming your power is the ultimate act of self-care. She hopes “Without You” resonates with listeners, offering strength and inspiration to overcome challenges and embrace a brighter future.

About Shye
Shye is a Singaporean independent music producer and singer-songwriter. As a self-taught musician, Shye oversees all aspects of songwriting, recording, and production from her home studio. She also serves as the song’s mixing and mastering engineer. Her sound draws inspiration from a range of genres, including 80s British rock bands, 2000s pop-punk, and dreamy electronic pop.6
She started her career in music at the age of sixteen when she joined a competition for fun and won unexpectedly. The winning track was from her 2018 debut EP, Augus7ine. In 2020, Shye released her 14-track debut album, days to morning glory, as a follow-up. Shye released her second EP, hello TRINITY, the following year. In 2022, she released “idk it’s complicated.” In October 2023, her next piece of work, 9LIVES, did the same.
Shye is a rising Asian star who has rapidly gained recognition. She has won prestigious music awards, appeared on reality shows, and graced the covers of influential magazines. Her talent and hard work have propelled her into the spotlight.
In September, Shye will go to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to participate in the first-ever TONGTONG Fest. Her upcoming performance will feature collaborations with a diverse lineup of artists. The showcase will include local talents like Lunadira and Grrrl Gang, as well as acclaimed international acts such as Machinedrum and Squid.
