With ‘Cecilia,’ I wanted to create an atmosphere that feels like falling into water in slow motion—a dreamlike descent where time stretches and emotions take over.
The song carries a sense of surrender, as if you’re watching the light fade away while simultaneously feeling a deep sense of safety in the darkness.
With this single, it was important to me to build a wall of sound, one that eventually gently engulfs the listener. As it’s the start of the new year, I hope they look ahead excited and hopeful for the months to come.
It draws inspiration from a place of feeling lost and uncertainty about what to do next. Shye hopes listeners feel cared by the song, that with these few minutes they can go into a moment of self-discovery. Lastly, Shye hopes that the song is a guiding light to a home to oneself.
