Love is in the air, and Singaporean singer-songwriter rhyu is here to soundtrack it with her latest single, “For It’s You and Me.” Just in time for Valentine’s Day, this heartfelt track is an ode to romance, celebrating the beauty of small, everyday moments that define love.
A fresh addition to her growing discography, “For It’s You and Me” gives fans a taste of rhyu’s highly anticipated debut EP, It’s Pouring, set for release in March. With vibrant instrumentals and her signature soulful, raspy vocals, the song captures love in its purest form—simple, unspoken, and found in fleeting yet meaningful gestures.

I hope people feel the warmth I felt while writing the song, and are able to relate to it in their own ways. This song came from a place of comfort and gratitude I felt towards someone. It’s such an amazing feeling and I hope to translate that through ‘For it’s You and Me.’
This release also marks a turning point for rhyu, as she took on a more hands-on role in the production process compared to her previous singles. This deeper involvement has allowed her to shape her sound more intentionally, ensuring every detail reflects her artistic vision. As the first single from It’s Pouring, the song sets the stage for an EP filled with raw emotions, heartfelt storytelling, and a deeper dive into rhyu’s evolving artistry.

At just 19 years old, rhyu (short for Raine Hahn Yu) has already made waves in Singapore’s indie music scene. Writing songs since the age of four, she crafts music inspired by personal experiences, hoping to offer listeners the same comfort and connection she finds in songwriting.
Her rich, velvety vocals have drawn comparisons to Icelandic singer-songwriter Laufey, even catching her attention on TikTok, where rhyu shares both covers and original songs. Since releasing music two years ago, she has amassed over 83,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, with her single “It’s Fine” surpassing 2.2 million streams.
Beyond the digital space, rhyu has made a name for herself on stage. In 2023, she performed at the iconic Esplanade Theatres by the Bay in Singapore and opened for Taiwanese instrumental band Cicada during their Singapore show. She is also a member of New Mongrels, a collective of emerging Singaporean artists.
