Rakuten Viki’s new K-drama A Bona Fide Killer stars Kong Hyo Jin as a mother hiding a deadly secret while balancing family and danger.
Rakuten Viki is adding another highly anticipated Korean drama to its growing catalog with A Bona Fide Killer. The new suspense series blends action, mystery, and family drama. It is a story that follows a woman living two completely different lives.
Based on the hit Kakao webtoon that has amassed more than 180 million views, the series centers on Yoo Bo-na (Kong Hyo Jin). She appears to be an ordinary wife and mother raising her young daughter with her husband, newspaper reporter Kwon Tae-seong (Jung Jun Won).
However, Bo-na secretly works as “Kingfisher,” a legendary sniper who eliminates dangerous criminals for a covert organization.
After taking a three-year maternity leave, Bo-na returns to active duty. Meanwhile, Tae-seong receives an assignment to investigate the elusive assassin known only as Kingfisher. As a result, Bo-na must protect both her family and the secret that could destroy everything she has built.
Viki’s Star-Studded Cast in A Bona Fide Killer
Kong Hyo Jin makes her long-awaited return to television with one of the most unconventional roles of her career. Known for acclaimed dramas such as Master’s Sun, It’s Okay, That’s Love, The Producers, When the Camellia Blooms, and When the Stars Gossip. She leads the series as an assassin determined to keep her double life hidden.
Meanwhile, Jung Jun Won stars opposite Kong following his breakout performance in Resident Playbook. In addition, veteran actors Sung Dong Il and Lee Sang Yi complete the main cast.
Fresh Take on the Thriller Genre
Director Yoon Jong Ho, who previously co-directed Flower of Evil and Lovely Runner, brings his signature visual style and emotional storytelling to the series. Furthermore, A Bona Fide Killer balances pulse-pounding action with heartfelt family moments. It offers a fresh take on the suspense genre.
