Jong Lee, a singer-songwriter, was born in Seoul, South Korea, and currently resides in Toronto, Canada. His classical training serves as the driving force behind the project. With help from Yifan Wu, Henry Stein, and Michael Friedman of the Peach Luffe band, Jong Lee wrote, produced, and mastered the new album.

The release builds on the dreamy album highlight track “What’s On Your Mind,” which explores the unadulterated need for honesty in relationships. This track follows the poignant “When You Hold Me,” which employs tender inquiries to illustrate the uncertainties inherent in love. You’re pleading with them to express their opinions. I’ll curse you. Why did you get away with it? Jong Lee discusses the song.

Peach Luffe hails from a classical music background, and his proficiency on the violin immediately distinguishes him from his peers. He can create intricate, multi-layered compositions that elevate his brand of dreamy pop to a whole new level of immersion. He takes advantage of this power for the new album, using his distinct, whimsical style to encourage listeners to embrace their inner child. Jong describes the violin as his “cheat code,” never completely ignoring the instrument that makes him unique.

“But I just want to create music that people like—people are complex. And I want to help them rediscover what they liked most about their childhood.”

Renowned for his distinct fusion of K-indie and dream-pop, Jong uses his classical training to create evocative soundscapes that captivate listeners. During the pandemic, Peach Luffe started off as a solo project in Jong Lee’s bedroom. They gradually expanded to become a full band with several partners.

Early support for the upcoming EP’s singles has been garnered from key playlists like Indie Shuffle and ORG on Spotify Asia. Furthermore, tastemakers across Asia, including Bandwagon, have shown early support for the release.

When “Honey” was released in March of 2023, Spotify also chose him for a billboard in Toronto’s Dundas Square for Asian Heritage Month.

A Korean ad and the 2022 movie Swearing Jar featured Peach Luffe’s 2020 single “Shimmer.” Peach Luffe is prepared to continue serving as an ambassador for a diverse range of artistic expressions within K-Indie as South Korean music gains global recognition. He has been a long-time fan of K-Indie music. Now, as K-Indie music gains global recognition, he continues to explore new ways to innovate within the genre. He reflects on the growing popularity of K-Indie; he wonders, “What’s next?”
