The announcement was made on March 18 by the singer’s label in a statement to a South Korean news outlet. SM Entertainment reported, “On April 15th, NCT’s Taeyong will become an active-duty soldier in the Navy.”

SM Entertainment also stated that they are asking fans to understand that no separate official event will be held on the day of entry to the recruit training center. Admission will be held privately to prevent safety accidents due to on-site congestion.

As a result of this revelation, NCT’s Taeyong will be the first member of NCT to commence South Korea’s compulsory military service.

Additionally, NCT Taeyong’s upcoming enlistment follows closely after his recent return as a solo artist with his second mini-album, Tap. Last year, he made his first solo debut with the mini-album SHALALA.
