Singer-songwriter mikah marks the beginning of his emotional journey with “Escape,” following his well-known song with 88rising

Singer-songwriter mikah has released a new single, “Escape,” following his successful collaboration with the American music company 88Rising for “Butterflies” in September.

This song is the first chapter of mikah’s three-part new single project, Homesick. He explores the emotional conflict between these two forces, driven by the desire to pursue dreams but longing for the home he can’t leave behind.

The song combines gentle, introspective lyrics and sparse, emotionally driven music to show this delicate inner conflict. “Escape” combines alternative rock’s textured guitars, indie pop’s clarity, and R&B’s rhythmic vibe. Building on the emotional depth of his memorable song “so I don’t forget,” this new release offers a sound that is more multidimensional and globally resonant.

This song is based on my experiences in Hawaii. Joy, unhappiness, confusion – many emotions were tangled together back then. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted, but I knew that there had to be ‘something more.’ The title ‘Escape’ came from the feeling of longing to get out of a ‘place that’s comfortable, but also ties you down.’ It’s not easy to leave the place where you grew up.  But that’s the start of the journey to find your ‘true self.’ – mikah
