“Drugstore Cowboy” by Krooked Tongue
With the help of the band’s long-time producer, Josh Gallop, “Drugstore Cowboy” turns the octane up to 10 from the very first melody. The track blends a perfect flicker of fuzz-fueled guitars, accompanied by driving drums in sync with sing-along vocal lines.
It explores the cause and effect of living selfishly, making it easy for listeners to relate to the song. Oli, the band’s vocalist and bassist, emphasized that the track is full of energy—like a wild chase. It shows how someone tumbles into reckless motion and chaos, getting tied up in the busy city. It’s about cutting through the noise and flowing with daily life while holding onto that intense drive and passion. He also added:
There’s a divine peace in knowing your downfalls, and ‘Drugstore Cowboy’ is a tune that throws its arms wide open, falls backwards, and trusts whatever decision fate casts upon us. ‘Drugstore Cowboy’ is a gunslinging, store-raiding soliloquy that acknowledges what it means to truly live in the moment—being the main character in your own story, even without knowing how that story will end.
The song was, in fact, inspired by—or somewhat related to—the movie of the same name. In addition, the track was originally written as an acoustic piece, but the band ended up producing a sound reminiscent of mid-to-late 2000s rock, channeling their true soul as a band.
Furthermore, the band highlights that the track’s music video had to be cinematic, evoking not just the message of the music but also the band’s effort in creating such a compelling visual.
On top of this, Krooked Tongue also announced their upcoming debut album, which will arrive on April 26, 2026. So stay tuned and get ready to rock with the band!
