MEMI, the sensational South Korean rock artist, has reached a significant milestone with the release of her debut solo EP, titled M3MI. This marks a pivotal moment for one of the most thrilling talents to emerge from Korea’s vibrant rock scene this year.
The EP, featuring five tracks, includes the iconic song ‘Guitar Pick,’ which catapulted MEMI to fame with over 2 million streams on Spotify since its release in February. The recently unveiled single ‘NY(f)C’ is also part of the lineup, along with three new tracks: ‘Bassist,’ ‘Waikiki,’ and ‘Sorry for my late reply.’
For MEMI, ‘Bassist’ serves as a garage rock ode to bassists worldwide. She expresses admiration for the cool and captivating presence of bassists, describing them as “always so sexy and hot when they perform on stage.”
The track ‘Waikiki’ draws inspiration from MEMI’s solo trip to Hawaii, capturing the sense of freedom and happiness she experienced during her time there. The song revolves around a heavy and funky guitar riff, accompanied by lighthearted lyrics designed to offer listeners a delightful and entertaining experience.

In a departure from her usual punk sound, ‘Sorry for my late reply’ emerges as MEMI’s first foray into a more somber musical territory. The track serves as a heartfelt call to a loved one lost almost a decade ago, dedicating the final piece of the EP to this person and extending solace to anyone in need.

MEMI, a Seoul-based singer-songwriter, has garnered attention for previous single releases such as ‘Guitar Pick’ and ‘Thin Lips Club,’ as well as her role as the guitarist in the Korean indie rock band 24HOURS.
